People with big egos really, really piss me off. Like, I want to take a rolled up newspaper and smack them until they realize that they aren't what they think they are.
One of my friends, because his last name sounds like an important kind of item, so he thinks he is always right, he thinks he is more important than me, and he thinks that everyone loves him, and if they don't he tries to make them. It was funny at first, as it was a joke, but it went out of control and he literally compares himself to God. Not that I'm religious or anything, but I think he deserves to be smacked with a rocking chair... made of thorns.
People like that, or anyone that acts better than someone else, especially me, make me really, really, ticked off. I don't think I'm better, but I take personal offense to it when someone says that they're more important than me.
We're all people, so why should one be more important than another (of course, I'm speaking on the level of average citizens, not world leaders).

but in all seriousness, people like that do piss me off as well, smacking him should do the trick. |

Using that logic, you hate Flavio. And if you hate Flavio then you're a STUTTERING PEACOCK! |

I consider myself egotistical.
however I'm not a traditional egotist. |

A friend of mine once met a noob over internet that claimed that she gets the best grades ever, is a cheerleader, all the boys love her, and her voice is so good she'll go to American Idol and win the prize. All in terrible chatspeak.
And she also took every bit of criticism as jealousy.
Beat that. |

I have been in the same situation myself here recently. The one called Fish-Lips is the exact kind of person this friend of yours is. Some wise words.

I believe that I have some self-confidence, but there are a few people I know that are real jerks... |

I don't believe equality exists. However, being full of yourself only lowers you. |

Terry Pratchett has written the solution for that in one of his books:
1. If you do smack them, the world will only be a slightly better place for a small amount of time 2. After that, the world will forever be a slightly worse place 3. You're not supposed to be as stupid as they are. |

I sometimes joke about being egotistical (eg. I say "lol I'm awesome")... and really, I do think I'm a pretty likeable person, but having a little self-confidence is good.
However, "a little self confidence" is not equal to thinking you're the greatest thing alive. ): So yes, you're right, some people need to deflate their egos before they float away on them. |
