Okay, somehow a scary affect. How it goes:

I'm walking my dog around my neighborhood and I walk past a house with a bunch of kids playing baseball in front of the house. The ball goes in the street (it's a very busy street during this hour) and one of the kids goes out to get it. I turn around and I see a Mercedes Benz coming in at 35 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. The car was heading straight for the kid. He had no chance of getting out of the way.
Once I saw the car coming, time just slowed down. It's like something terrible was going to happen. It was happening right there. I didn't do anything clever either, I just reached out and I was speechless. I couldn't think of anything to say like "WATCH OUT!" or "You're about to get hit by a car!" The driver of the car slams the brakes a little too late. The kid gets hit and sent flying backwards about 8 feet from where he was standing. I just stood there looking at the horror. I quickly rush to the kid, the driver gets out of the car ON HER CELL PHONE and I'm trying to help the kid. The kid himself was knocked unconscious and he was bleeding from the nose.
As for the kid's friends, they we're just standing across the street staring at me trying to help the kid who got hit. "I could use help here!" I yelled, but no one helped. Not even the neighbors came out to help. The driver was STILL on her cell phone talking like she didn't take her medicine this morning.
After 5 minutes of my adrenaline pumping, the kid finally wakes up. He was still bleeding bad. I take him to the house where he and his friends were playing baseball. The parents there took him in. As for the driver, she apologizes to the kid's parents and then drives off. Then, I was told to head back home before the police arrive.
So yeah, me and my dog head back home after a this happened. I seriously will never forget this. But I did save that kid's life. If I wasn't there to help him, he would've either gone to the ER or maybe end up dead. It's... like... wow. We do heroic things in our life. I just don't know what else to say.

You want something bad to happen just so you can look like a hero? That's selfish and terrible.
