Before you read it, I must say that I was going to work on this backwards. Backtracking from the Modern Day Koopa Kingdom to their roots, but I wanted it to feel like a real history, so I started from their ancient past.
I hope you enjoy this as I work on it. :3
Koopa Kingdom - Development of a Nation
Stages of Society -Tribes- -Domestication-
-Tribes-
The Koh-pa Tribe and the Rah-pin Tribe were living together peacefully in the same areas. The Koh-pa would hunt, the Rah-pin would gather. But, sadly, one day, food became scarce. The Koh-pa and the Rah-pin began to fight over food, but the Koh-pa, with their hunting skills, were the victors. They forced the Rah-pin out of the lush valley.
Though the Koh-pa and the Rah-pin had been living in the valley in the center of a large ring of mountains, it was revealed sometime after the battle that four of them were really volcanoes. What we know as Mount Scar, Mount Fang, Sharpclaw Mountain, and Spearhead erupted, though as we all know, it would not be the last time any of them spewed molten rock.
The lava flowed forth, blocking out the sun by bridging the gaps between the mountains. The entrances to the valley were all blocked. Most of the flora were killed by what the Koh-pa had named 'fire water', but this loss was not without a gain.
A week later, fire flowers first bloomed. They are assumed to had been made from an ancient flower which as it was pollinated, ash had gotten in. The Koh-pa, curious about the new plant, picked it. Imagine their surprise when they discovered fire. It was only matched by their surprise that, if they ate the plant, they could breath fire.
-Domestication-
In order to live in the sunless place, the Koh-pa Tribe caught various animals by chasing them into caves filled with various plant-life and cave-dwelling creatures. The Koh-pa would then block the enterance, ensuring that the animals wouldn't escape. Over time, the Koh-pa would come to build pens and cages, allowing them to check on the animals without risking their escape. It came as no surprise that they learned that if they kept some alive, the animals would breed and make more animals to eat. They discovered, too, that if they planted seeds and fruit in areas where they ran less of a risk of being scorched by the lava rivers, they would grow into more plants.
As the Koh-pa Tribe settled and founded their first real villages, it was not long before they began using specific species to aid them in softening the ground or carrying large quantities of crops. |

^-^; Thanks.
And this is just the start... I intend to follow the Dark Land Koopa Kingdom from the beginnings to modern day.
This includes, naturally, some references to the Paper Mario series (Koopas migrating to the area which the Shadow Queen ruled; Koopas living in far deserts (Tutankoopa)...) Maybe even some references to a couple things I made up for an old Mario roleplay I was in.
This would mean, naturally, that I would revive my old plot with Magi Kalim and the development of the first Guard-statue (remember those statues in the games which breath fire? Yeah, like that, but mobile.). |

Well, tack this one down as another good read. M'aiq is impressed by the way you manage to weave the creation of that which is canon by such believable writings. |

I like it! For future reference, don't forget, even Dark Land has more than Koopas. Monty Moles are native to the area, obviously, and they lived underground and eventually became close merchants of sorts to the Koopas, trading technology and artisan goods for food and whatnot. That explains why they're in the Koopa Clan as of modern time. |

I know. I was setting the stage for the Koopas. Of course, this is their history, so the other races, such as Monty Moles, will be 'discovered' over time.
The Terrapins, by the way, were the Ra-pin Tribe that was kicked out.

It kind of goes against my canon-loving soul to compliment complete Fanon History, but it's unique in itself, so I think you did a good job. |
