This great 12 volume manga is one of the best ever produced by Shonen Jump. Instead of opting for the generic action oriented fight style that most manga follow, Death Note is a psychological thriller that questions the definition of good and evil. With memorable characters like Light, L, and the Shinigami (Death God) Ryuk taking center stage, it has become a fan favorite among manga enthusiasts.

Although the original arc is over, it's popularity is starting to spike once again. With the release of the anime on Cartoon Netowork's Adult Swim, Shonen has seen fit to release some of the Japanese exclusive content in the states including Death Note Volume 13: How to Read and several novels based on the series. Death Note is even taking the spotlight in it's birth place of Japan with the third in a series of live actions moves being released, this one based upon what L was doing before the Kira case.

With Death Note gaining more fans everyday, I see no reason not to start a topic about it. It is personally my favorite manga, and I'd love to discuss it with the members of Digibutter. So, has anyone else experienced Death Note?

Isn't there also a new manga coming out? It's called 'L, Change the World', or some such thing? Confused Oh...and a crappy movie based on it, as well.

I believe that is the name of the movie, as I have heard of no new manga.

Also, I've seen the first live action film. It is actually pretty well done. They of course had to change somethings, but for the most part it matches the feel of the books and anime.

I've never seen either movie, but from what I've heard from everyone else that saw them, they kind of sucked. Confused I dunno. I'm fine with the original series, thank you. Well...maybe some of the anime, too. It had it's own feel to it, which I didn't really like, but some of it was done better than in the manga.

Well the plot of the movies definitely isn't as good as the original. I think it's just more of the sheer bliss you get from seeing your favorite characters come to life.

Awesome anime/manga. I had to read the manga because I wasn't satisfied with the anime's ending. MUCH BETTER ending.
