Well, maybe Nintendo will provide little pamphlets that explain the whole thing, and what titles the Pay-To-Play Service will include. If this means what I think it does, then we'll likely have Phantasy Star on the Wii, in the form of an actual game disc! You'll just have to fork over a good amount of Wii Points, in order to buy yourself a Hunter's Licence. |

That scared me. Why? Because right underneath it you have the TF2 HWG.
And yes me too. |

Nintendo's online is shit. They are crazy if they expect me to pay for it. Even if I can't play Brawl online. |

http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/02/nintendo-to-beg.html - Here's the article of which I read about this, and below is the point of where using Wii Points is an option for payment.
| Quote: | | This is a pretty big change for Nintendo, who has always been adamant about wanting online gameplay to be free. While this might attract more developers to the service with a new revenue stream, it also might confuse consumers -- and be a hassle if the payment system isn't easy. You'll use Wii Points to pay for the online gaming, so it should be interesting to see if this extends to the DS Lite or if it's just restricted to Wii. |

Exactly. Since it's not the online system as a whole, I might pay for a month of Brawl if it's not free, but they're really shooting themselves in the foot. If they decide to make it a subscription to the internet service as a whole like Xbox Live, I'm going to be pissed unless they ditch the whole "no communication with strangers" bollocks. Then it might be worth paying for, because that's part of the reason the Wii isn't getting good online games like TF2 and Call of Duty 4. |

Nintendo seems hellbent on destroying themselves. There was somethign else they did which was freaking stupid, but it slipped my mind.
QUICK ! MAYBE THEY ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH EVIL ROBOTS CONTROLLED BY SONY AND MICROSOFT TO EQUAL PARTS !
TO THE MIYAMOTOBILE !
AND THE FRANCISKART !
Maybe I AM better off with my father blocking WiFi on my Wii after all - no temptation to pay for intangibles. |

Is this the end for Wi-fi play I hardly use Wii points, I use them only to buy channels like Internet channel. I havenīt bought a game on the Wii shop yet. |

Well, time to sell my Wii and get a PS3.
...Seriously, I will sell it if there's a game I want with pay-to-play.
Way to go, Nintendo, you once again *crag*ed with your fanbase. |

And THAT is why you fail. You don't even WANT to pay with your Wii Points, or end up like King Dedede, with excessive overdue bills from NightMare Enterprises! |

It will cost more for some months to play that the price goes higher than to buy games. |

Brawl WON'T be pay-to-play. Why? It's already out in Japan, and there's already online play. They aren't going to change the system just for US players, and they aren't going to completely recall the game and make people in Japan buy the new copy instead.
| ? Block wrote: | | I don't think this'll be completely replacing the free service. It'll probably just be for games whose servers require more maintenance. |
Agreed! I think most games will probably still be free, but there will be a select few that you have to pay for; they're not going to make everyone pay for every single wi-fi experience, that would make them lose way too much publicity. We should just wait and see what titles end up falling under this category. |
