The bosses of the Nintendo world had been defeated again, as they often are. It was around this time that Tabuu took control of Master Hand so that he may destroy the entire world.

I'm assuming from the way that Tabuu acts within SSB, that he is a very sad and depressed individual. I'd compare his plight to that of Count Blecks, save for that his actions are most likely not driven by a lost love. I don't have Tabuu trophy yet, that would probably help.

Master Hand contacted the bosses and made them an offer, help him and the SubSpace army with their plans and he would rid them of their pesky heroes and let them rule at his side.

I think that the Ancient Minister, R.O.B., was perhaps after revenge. It's states on his trophy that he was once ruled the Nintendo world as well. With this information, I'd say it's not completely insane to assume that he was most likely driven out of the world by the people within it, probably humans. There is no way to really tell though.

This is an offer they could not refuse, well not all. It's a known fact that Dedede is not exactly on completely sour terms with Kirby. In the past he has even helped out our little Pink hero. I believe Tabuu contacted him through long distance means, as he did not stop him from taking action against his plans. This would explain the Dedede buttons being set to a timer, as he would have known what Master Hand was planning.

At this point, I believe everything adds up. I still need to check a few trophies, so alterations will most likely be made. This is pretty much my general take on the story though.
