Fine, I'll make one of these. I was against it at first, but I love Toon Link so much, and he was staring at me with those cute dinnerplate eyes, seeming to beg me to do this... so I will respect that. As we should respect him. =)
I guess this is a 'Toon Link mainers unite' thread. Really, though, I'm promoting serious discussion regarding the character so this can be considered a little more productive and worth the space for more than one reason besides a (big) fan shoutout. What makes Toon Link a good character to use, and not-so-good - strengths and weaknesses? Do you like using him, have you considered maining or secondary maining him or the like?
I used to main Sonic for a while, but then I realized I'm way better with Toon Link. I usually play as T-Link Online, and I've gotten a nice number of wins with him. ^^
So, what are your thoughts, opinions and input on the subject, which is our cute but deadly warrior, Toon Link? =D |

To start up, I have a question. A question I make because all the Brawling I did so far was at my friend's, and he has never unlocked Toon Link.
So, is Toon Link much like Melee's Young Link? |

Toon Link is really good. He has speed AND power. His boomerang is really useful in a lot of places, usually my main projectile. Bomb is handy too, I use it sometimes but I think its power is lower than that of Link's bomb.
But yes, Toon Link is REALLY good. Better than Young Link of course. Toon Link is like an upgraded version of Young Link. Thats really it.
His airs are also really deadly, all 5 of his air moves. I use it as my finishing blow sometimes. And of course, theres that side smash.
The only thing that I kinda don't like about him is his arrows, too slow for me IMO. |

Well, every character that didn't improve from Melee to Brawl sanks like Mario, who's average while the others are above average. So, Toon Link is basically how Young Link improved, so it's something good to see. |

Not really. He feels and plays quite differently. He's a lot faster and floatier. His Down A spikes down quickly like, say, Yoshi's Down B or ZSS and Game & Watch's Down Aerial. I think he executes his special moves and attacks faster than Young Link, and the mechanics seem different. The arrows fly really far even when uncharged. The Boomerang does more damage than Link's, and I think it has better knockback, I'm not entirely sure. His Spin Attack obviously can be charged now, but it works like Young Link's, drawing people in and possessing a finishing slash.
I could probably think of more, but maybe my mind's just fried right now from all the Brawling. @_@ I hope that helps though...
I love Toon Link a lot more than Young Link. They are different in enough ways. |
