Well, here's my explanation on this.
A replay is in no way a video. It is really what it is: a replay. In other word, it's a ASM recording of the match (or, if you want, a CPU) that takes account of every variable, such as controls and items, to reproduce the match exactly. And that is why you can pause during replay and change the angle, zoom and stuff to take pictures. All the textures and models used are already found in the game itself.
A picture, however, is really a pixel by pixel image. The size is near a 1000 of pixel wide and high, and that means the image could have like 1 million pixels. And the picture is high quality. That takes a lot of space. |
