A girl is dying in the hospital with cancer. The only thing she wants is a hug from daddy. Problem? Daddy is in jail for a year on drug related charges. The daughter is not expected to last that long. The family is appealing for a 30-day supervised visit from jail so the father can see the daughter before she passes away. The judge, however, is not sccepting this.
If you were the judge in this case. would you give an appeal to the family? Why? |

I would allow the father to leave for a day or two to see his daughter, with supervision.
And where did this story come from? |

I would let him out with supervision to hug her. And maybe stay with her for a day. |

This remark is very offensive to some minorites.
I would sentence him to death so he could hug her, in hell!
I would probably let him out for a week. I mean you didn't really describe the charges he was sentenced for, so it's hard to decide. Regardless, I would let him out. I just don't know for how long. |

I'm going to be the heartless one here:
I say no.
Jail is meant to be a punishment, letting him out would be a big 'F YOU' to the legal system and everything it stands for. |

Why would they ask for 30 days?
A hug takes a minute.
An escape takes a week. |

Let him out supervised for one day only to be with her. o_o; Anything less is cruel to the dying child, and anything more is giving too much to the father. |

The girl did nothing though. Why punish her? |

I say allow a very short visit, maybe an hour with security guards in the room. I agree with R.S., jail is a punishment. |

They could always take the girl to the jail. It won't be the best circumstance to see him again, and it might be hard to transport here there if she's sick, but it's possible. She can have her hug in a visitation room in the prison.
I think she deserves it, at least, since it's not her fault that her father's in jail. |

Jale is a punishment. If that guy won't get to hug his daughter when she's almost dieing, he's got nobody to blame but himself. If he's got caught with drugs, he's supposed to be punished, and *crag* it if his daughter is nearly dieing. It only makes him learn better to not do it dammit. |
