In my opinion, this is one of the worst things Nintendo could possibly do. Why would they think of Pay to Play? The Wi-Fi isn't the greatest that there is, and I'm pretty sure Nintendo will be losing some customers to this "Pay to Play". If the quality of the Wi-Fi was also improved with the "Pay to Play," then I'm sure a lot more people would go ahead with teh "Pay to Play."
I for one, don't want to use my Wii Points Cards, as I only get a few a year, and would like to spend them on VC games that I would like. Of course, I'll probably have to buy more Wii Points Cards inorder to keep up with the Online game playing.
Also, agreeing with other posters up here, that it is not fair that Japan does not have to "Pay to Play." They get free online play, for one of the greatest games comming out for the Wii, and when we anticipate Super Smash Bros. Brawl release, we get attacked by this "Pay to Play." I would feel pretty happy, if I lived in Japan right now, but I'm sure we all would. |

I'm sure this will only be for higher maintinence games combined with better features. They will probably introduce a voice over controlled via parental controls for the wii, and only available in friend matches and such. Still playing it safe, while allowing it.
But I seriously hate subscriptions. |

You know what one of the Pay-To-Play Nintendo WFC Titles is? Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King! It'll have the Pay To Play icon, where you'll have to sacrifice your Wii Points to pay for new stuff to play, within the game.

Well, I would expect Nintendo to have some common courtesy and have the GOOD STUFF stay free instead of making us pay.
