It scares me how much of a n00b I am. But can some one tell me what a tier is? Sorry I'm so stupid, but I need to know. |

Gasp! You don't know either! Well now I don't feel as stupid. Now can some one tell us both now? |

Tiers are what separated the amazing characters from the crap characters in Melee. The best characters were top tier, the worst were bottom tier. It's important to note, though, that tiers VERY rarely, if ever, affected anything at standard levels of play. Tier lists are determined under the assumption that both players have the exact same skill level; in that case, the person using the higher tier character would always triumph over the person using the lower tier character.
In Brawl, though, tiers will be much less clearly defined, thanks to how balanced the game is. |

tiers will more likely than not end up being a list of who beats who in brawl. everyone has characters who kick their ass. |

Brawl was NOT made for serious gameplay,so Tournament players will more likely than not give up on making tiers this time around. |
