It's not on Youtube, but it was something against speeding and drunk driving. I think it aired twice. As far as I can remember, it went something like this.

It just quickly showed a sign of a speed limit of 30, and goes over to someone in a car following that speed limit. Behind him is some "cool" guy shouting to hurry up, because nobody pays attention to the speed limits. The good guy turns off, and the other guy speeds up to maybe... 100 km per hour.

A few seconds later, he smashes headfirst into another person going at about the same speed. It goes back to the guy who was obeying the speed limit, driving away while smiling. And it goes to some words on the screen. "Two types of people don't care about the speed limit. Cool people, and dead ones."

I don't see why it would be taken off the air. It actually generated a powerful impact (Excuse the pun) on whoever was watching. Did they think it was too violent? Did they think the guy who lived was sadistic, smiling when someone else has just gotten into a crash? Did they think "Cool people" was gonna offend someone? If it's a commercial that actually works, then I don't see a reason to take it off.

Yeah... I don't know why, but I'm mad. Yay for deluded rants. Discuss.

I wish I could see that ad...

I don't really know why they took it off though. 'Tis a shame.

They don't like it when effective and entertaining things actually get on TV.

Probably this. What kind of person smiles at a head-on collision? They might as well have showed him making a mark on his dash showing how many "cool people" he has gotten killed.

The problem is that it doesn't work, because it is flawed logic. The wreck happend because he tried to pass illegally, or just wasn't paying attention, or was being wreckless (or drunk?). Speed had nothing to do with it.

Speed limits are stupid, and just big brother trying to protect us by enforcing overly-broad laws that cater to the stupid sheep citizens. The only time speed limits are useful is when it warns you of a drop in speed. Like an approaching turn, busy intersection, or construction area. Other than that, its just an arbitrary number they enforce to collect revenue for the city/county.

You can probably tell, I have received a lot of speeding tickets, but I consider myself a very safe driver.

LOL FRANIS SPEEDS

Actually I can back this up. Germany's Autobahn has very little crashes.... though they are less liberal with what you can be doing inside the car.

I don't completely agree with a general lack of speed limit. Some speed limits should be in place. in higher risk areas Particularly in residential and School zones ( IE little kids running into the street) as Francis said earlier with construction and turns. But when it comes to places like the highway. provided people are Driving Safe, there should be no speed limit. That is of course assuming the Drivers in question know their vehicles limits, and how to operate under top speed. Because lets face it, People will go fast just to go fast.

Great reference there. It's so true.
