So, I'm watching this thing about an invasive fish species called snakeheads. I'll admit, I'm scared.
There are pretty much two species- normal ones, and giant ones, which can reach up to five feet in length.
They reach sexual maturity at age two, and can lay 15,000 eggs at a time. They can mate five times a year.
The snakeheads have a unique anatomy that allows them to survive out of water. Even 9 hours on dry land won't weaken them. They can 'swim' on land by shifting their muscles, and move around.
And last, but not least, snakeheads are like sharks. They have HUGE, sharp teeth, and thrive on blood. Not only have they devoured other fish in bloody massacres, but they've attempted to do away with unlucky fishermen, as well. Heck, they might eat people.
Apparently, they're a big problem in Asia, and they're now found in areas ranging from Florida to the northeast in America.
And I was afraid to go in the water before...What are your thoughts?

EDIT: Okay, just found out some more. The snakeheads are native to Asia and Africa, and have no natural predators outside of those two places. o_o;

Wait... D: We used to have a pet snakehead... or at least, a fish that is fairly similar to what you're talking about. It ate the smaller fishes in the tank... D: I didn't like it.

Snakeheads can NOT physically tolerate being confined. They'll kill themselves trying to get out of any enclosed space.

There are a few different breeds, I hear.

And they're being smuggled into the U.S. at an alarming rate. One place sold over 250,000 life snakeheads a year. Apparently, they're considered a delicacy. ._.;
I would NOT eat something that could eat me just as easily.
Also, some rich people buy them as pets, but release them into the wild because of the whole containment thing, which only adds to their dizzying population number.

That's... disturbing. o.o I don't wanna see those things around... I don't like things that suck blood.

I remember that fish we had jumped out of the tank and, like, growled at me. O__o Do... fish growl...?

Sadly, that's a very accurate summation. D:

Actually, I was fishing once years ago and I caught this huge fish we thought was a Barracuda. It looked a lot like the pic of the Snakehead I saw in the other thread, so I guess it's a good thing we threw it back.
