I am severely disappointed in the ways I've heard some of you handle this.

I, am not racist. If anything, I am an activist to STOP racism. All that differs is the color of your skin, and maybe your culture. Huge difference? No, not really.

Incidentally, I am mixed between a large amount of different cultures:
Caucasian (slang: white)
African (slang: black)
Columbian
German
Persian
Italian

I'm pretty much in the middle of African and Caucasian. Being in the middle, I can see the flaws in both groups. My experiences are not important, but to make it brief: I have never been bullied. Whenever I had a situation where someone picked on me, I always managed to win in the end. Race had nothing to do with it; I'm just an outcast. People fear me for my intellect, and I am very, very silent. I appear to walk alone, and therefore am vulnerable. How vulnerable? Well, here's an example: I transfered schools in 5th grade, and was new. Some school idiot/bully decided to "kill" me after school for not socializing and being weird (this person is white, and was the next year; 6th grade). As I carried my backpack down the hall, he slams his fist into the back of my head. As for me, I stood there. I just stood, and looked down at the ground as my books fell. He said, "Pussy. I knew you were just a little *crag*--" I turn around slowly. I said, "People like you do not deserve to live. Please, learn how to pick on someone of your caliber..." I grabbed him, tossed him onto a wall, and punched him in the face. I then used my knee to slam into his stomach, and in finality, used my forehead against his own, and he fell onto the ground. Tears ran down my face as I walked away, dying a bit inside every time I dare to hurt a soul. Someone walked up to me, noticing the blow to the head, asking if I was okay. I replied, "Oh, I'm alright. You should be asking him." It was a pretty uneventful day, and I received no gratification whatsoever. He was white, and I was mixed. He never spoke to me again.

Color doesn't matter. Attitude depends on the person, not their skin, culture, language, or gender. No, you are who you are. If you're an asshole, you're an asshole, regardless of your skin. If you're a lovely person, you're a lovely person, regardless of your skin. You could be white, green, purple, yellow, black, blue, red, whatever, and you would still be the same person. What we REALLY should be doing is weening out the worst of all of our races, rather than defining certain races to be certain types of people. That would be one of the many measures that would need to be taken to achieve world peace. Since there are so many, and that this is nearly impossible because of the number, world peace is unlikely. That's why it's just easier to worry about your own life, and make sure that you aren't racist, and that people are not racist to you, in your neighborhood, or in any part of your life. That does the world a great deed, indeed.

It wouldn't it be considered racist to dislike a racial stereotype but not the race itself, right?

Flavio is aware that it is only a stereotype and that it really in the end depends on the person's personality itself, rather than the race they go in, as not all fits into a certain stereotype.

Flavio doesn't consider that racist, as it isn't a bias against the race itself, but rather the typical image of said race. By no means is every person automatically a bad person based on their race itself.

Though, in the end a "racial stereotype," can be used to describe anyone, regardless of race. Therefore the term "racial stereotype," becomes meaningless. Perhaps Flavio should have thought this all out more before posting...

Oh well, never mind the horrid phrasing of this. Hopefully it makes enough sense that Flavio's opinions are shown correctly.

Racism is something you just have to deal with. Some people try to say "LOL ALL THE RACES ARE THE SAME HUGS AND KISSES!", but we all know it's not true. Now I'm not saying I'm racist, I'm just saying it's not going to just go away. There are just some people who hate difference; mostly teenagers, young adults, and people old enough to be around during the civil rights movements; and you need to learn to deal with it. Sure, you may be called names because your skin is of a brown hue, but it's not like I can walk into an African community and not get the same thing. And on that topic, the Caucasian and African thing is definetly not going to go away. There is just too much tension there, and both sides have some justification to a certain degree. I guess the main point is that people are stupid, and we all have to learn to live with them.

Also if one more *crag* person says "African American" I swear to satan I will gouge your eyes out. Native Americans are the only one's that are American, there is no such thing as a freakin' "African American." Ir's African, their from AFRICA. How many people do you see going around say "Asian American" or "Irish American"? Almost no one. Why? BECAUSE IT'S *crag* STUPID,

I rest my case.

That's true. My English teacher has mingled with African culture, and even has been accepted as an "African" by members of many African villages. He once told us a story about how Canadian black people, who's heritage came from Africa, offended many of the Africans from the village because they automatically assumed they'd be welcomed as Africans because they had black skin.

We presently watch "Blue Eyed" in history class. And, oh my lord, that movie is amazing. And Jane Elliot's work and performance are so far beyond creepy...

It is really unsettling. You should all watch it. It's kinda impossibly to describe... maybe Wikipedia has something ?

Just watch it. It opened my eyes - I want to try something against that "hidden" racism.

Right, because a person who threatens to hurt you and merely hits the back of your head OBVIOUSLY deserves to get punched in the face, knee'd to the gut, and smacked on the forehead, let alone even live.

People don't fear you because you are an outsider. People fear you because you're a jerk.

This argument in itself is rather racist.

The reason there's no White History Month is because EVERY MONTH IS WHITE HISTORY MONTH.

The purpose of Black History Month, and other history months, is to integrate different races into history, so that there doesn't have to be any kind of history month at all, because we're learning about all different races all the time in history.

Didn't realize how tired I was when I wrote this XD What I meant to say was that It's kinda funny how you can't say "white history month" or whatever. I didn't mean to say I had anything against it. I think it's awesome to do something like that because it shows the importance of some people that are just overlooked :/

And Jolene, that statement right there is *crag*ing racist. Every month isn't White History Month, because every month is just a month, those days we do whatever. It's called "Life Month", and we've dealt with it for most of ourlives, so stop being so egocentric, and go have a nice "Life Month"

I'm not being egocentric. I'm just speaking the truth. I guess you just found a statement that slightly irritated you and stopped reading there, not bothering to look at an explanation/rationalization for the statement, therefore not realizing the statement was meant sarcastically.

Think about it. You go into school. You learn history. What history do you learn about? ... white history. Every month. The only time you ever learn black history is... you guessed it, Black History Month. Every other month, you learn white history.

And this is a bad thing. There shouldn't have to be a Black History Month, because all the other months shouldn't have to be all about white history. We should be teaching black history alongside white history all through the year.

(However, this only holds for middle school and lower, really. In high school, the history classes fall into different categories. So, in American Studies you obviously would be learning only about what happened in America, and in Global Studies you learn about history in all countries but America, and it would make sense you'd only be learning about a specific topic. But in earlier history classes, it should definitely be integrated so you're getting the big picture.)

*ignorant post goes here*

You seem to forget that ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDIES FOCUS ON THE COUNTRY SAID STUDENTS CURRENTLY LIVE IN SO THEY STAY PATRIOTIC AND LOYAL TO THEIR COUNTRY BY UNDERSTANDING HOW IT CAME TO BE. IF COLUMBUS WERE BLACK, PEOPLE WOULD STILL LEARN ABOUT HIM. WHITE PEOPLE INFLUENCED THE US AND CANADA FURTHER THAN ANY OTHER RACE. Thank you.

Then we would need to add Hispanic History Month every month, and so on and so forth.

Basically, there is no "White History Month" because Caucasians are the majority in America. That's not to say they "control" every month, but establishing a White History Month would be sort of pointless. Not to mention the controversy it would cause...

Technically speaking, Caucasians never really had to struggle to gain their place in American society.
