Why does it matter that it takes R.O.B.s to activate the bombs. It just pulls them into Sub Space right? I mean they don't die!
And another thing, if they do die THEN WHY WOULD YOU DESIGN A BOMB LIKE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Actually, in one of the cutscenes, it reveals R.O.B. Sentries are really structurally weak when not connected to a Subspace Bomb, as they are torn appart by one's explosion, while Wario's trophy and Yoshi (who were both close enough to the blast radius to have suffered the same fate if they were weaker) didn't.
And Tabuu is just playing a game of chess. It doesn't matter which pieces he sacrafices as long as victory is achieved. |

As for the why, I'll bet it has something to do with the way the R.O.B.s are powered. Just a random idea, though. |

Bomb effects depending on range.
Point Blank=death
afew feet away=Trophy'd
decent range away=sucked in,but still alive
Out of range=No effect,other than an emotional scar. |

Trophies survive the wave of subspace. R.O.B. Sentries are not brawlers, and in that sense, they do not become trophies when simply defeated, and therefore, they get killed by it. *aghem*
See, R.O.B. units are metal, and what are trophies exactly? Look at dedede's badges, and the trophy bases. Obviously the same material. It has an ability to defy subspace, as we kind of saw. |

Tabuu didn't develop the bombs though, as the factory had already been constructed before he took over with the Minister. Or something like that anyway. |
