Alright, I just made something I started in RPOT into a writing piece instead.

-----------------------------------------------------

Sephiroth stood at the tower's pinnacle, stormclouds gathered thick in the skies above, blocking out all sunlight. A single arc of crimson lightning rent the sky, a portent of misery and destruction to the world over which this tower, once home to life and vibrance, still stood sentry.

"And so... the Planet continues to corrode."

Sephiroth's cold gaze ran from the heighth of the tower, his cyan eyes with catlike pupils raking the barren landscape ceaselessly as he sought out the appearance of another living being - just one other, to be more precise. The shining eyes narrowed as they registered the arrival of what they had long been seeking - a figure in the distance.

~~~
Cloud let out a small sigh of exasperation, taking a single regretful look backwards. That clown among the Turks, Reno, had completely ruined his motorcycle Fenrir, which by miracle was not beyond eventual repair. Curse him, curse his flashy experiments, and curse Shin-Ra. Cloud shook his head, turning it to face the tower before him once more. His heart seemed to stop beating in his chest for an infitesimal moment as his eyes locked on to a cloaked figure atop the structure. He narrowed his eyes, seeking a closer look, but then - it was gone.
"You will remain a memory. You've stayed a memory... haven't you?"
Cloud crossed the barren field, ignoring the chill breeze that swept his own ebony garb about him like full sails on a storm-tested ship. His patience was diminished - he had to know. The question and the feeling that had brought him here... he knew that the answer would greet him when he reached the tower.
It was very soon that he reached the tower's base, and when he did he turned his gaze immediately skyward. The void above was cast with a shadowy veil of clouds, and angry red lightning flashed cruelly as the hated form of Sephiroth descended from the tower's top in a graceful but incredibly menacing approach. Cloud looked on wordlessly, though the beating of his heart was so loud that surely his foe must hear him, distant still though he was.
"Sephiroth..."
The wrath touched upon the lifeless ground, unsmiling and exuding a cold, savage aura that threatened to engulf Cloud with its strength. Sephiroth spoke, every syllable intoned with calm hatred.
"Cloud. I gave the Planet warning. I gave you warning. I said that I would never be a memory. And here I am, as old flesh born anew, driven still by my purpose: To make this Planet my vessel through the starfilled cosmos, and continue my Mother's journey."
As he spoke, Sephiroth slowly drew the Masamune from his side. In the same moment, Cloud drew forth the Buster Sword from his back, his own eyes running past the newly polished blade and boring into Sephiroth's. The Buster Sword was in new repair, and prepared, like its wielder, to endure one last trial for the sake of the Planet. For the protection of life, honor, and dreams.
"Sephiroth. You fight to take away Life... And I fight to keep it safe. To keep others safe. People that I care about. That, Sephiroth, is why you will always fade away, soon forever, never again to plague this Planet. You have nothing to win... only everything to try and take away!"
Sephiroth allowed himself a brief, scornful laugh, though his cold expression did not waver.
"My strength grows as this Planet continues to corrode. You have accomplished nothing in my absences - this Planet will die by your own hand, not mine. I will take the Planet, and together we will find a new land. This time... Cloud. I will not be denied. The Planet's call is endless... And so I am here once more. To take your life... and reach my journey's end at long last."
Sephiroth raised the Masamune in a swift flash, and sparks erupted where its long, silver blade met the Buster Sword's.
Cloud gripped the handle of the weapon tightly, his determination readable upon his face. He pushed his blade against Sephiroth's, but soon found himself overpowered. There was a fierce illumination of sparks as Cloud found himself skidding backwards along the weathered ground, and Sephiroth rushing towards him...
The battle had begun.
Rather, it continued henceforth.
But when would it truly end?
-----------------------------------------------------
Author's Comments from my deviantART:
Just a bit of practice writing that I decided to do, obviously based off of Final Fantasy VII. It takes place after the most modern piece in the FFVII Collection, Dirge of Cerberus. Cloud is drawn to his seemingly eternal nemesis, the man once known as a hero - Sephiroth.
Dreams have died, and honor vanished from the man - he fights for something far worse.
Cloud fights for good.
Should not the battle be ended by now?
Well... Anyway, I hope you enjoy this piece. I may do a full-length battle between the two some time in future, if I ever get bored. =P
I admire your ability to weave words into the essence of beauty. I've said this before, but after a masterpiece such as this it MUST be stated again.
Not all in one topic. o.o
I know it's probably arrogant, but I was surprised nobody Cookied the Falcon Punch, which, as I correctly guessed, turned out to receive more attention than this. =P
