I will list the history of the new character's movesets and animations, ala CrappyCaptureDevice of Youtube. Only,I won't get advanced detail in most moves. First off,Lucas. Entrance:In this video, the sound for the Saturn Table is the same as in Lucas's entrance Standard B:This comes from Kuma's more famous attack in MOTHER 3. Side B:This is from, once again,Kuma's attacks. Up B:Yet again,Kuma. PK Thunder had a better chance of hitting in MOTHER 3,explaining why it's easier to control than the one Ness uses. Down B:Kuma.(Thanks Lord Bob)
Grab:This is Rope Snake(Or I should say Snake Rope),Duster's ally in battle in MOTHER 3.The fact that he is a teather recovery is derived from the fact that Snake Rope was used to grab things outside of battle twice in the game, but failed both times.
Side A:Lucas lived a simple lifestyle before the game,so it makes abit of sense that he would use a stick, rather than a bat. Up A:This probably came from the ending of his game, where he pulls a sword out of the ground, and it is sent sailing into the sky in a dramatic fasion.
Winning poses:In one of his poses,he bends down to pull a sword (From my understanding)from the ground. He does this in MOTHER 3,after Claus is defeated for the final time. ------------------------------ King Dedede
Standard B and jump:He was said to naturally have these ablilites,so it makes sense that they work abit like Kirby's. Side B:His pose in doing so is taken from a minigame in Kirby's Adventure, where he bombards Kirby with bombs and eggs/ Up B:One of Dedede's most famous attacks. He commonly jumps into the air,and lands, producing stars on either side of himself.Kirby can't inhale the ones in Brawl, though.
Running A:He trips, and falls flat on his face. This is another of his attacks in the Kirby games. Final Smash:In some battles with Kirby,he would summon troops to help him.His FS is basically that on crack. ---------------------- Sonic
Taunts:Sonic tends to be a showoff at times, explaining the fact that he actually taunts you. Up taunt:This in one of Sonic's most famous poses, seen in some of his artwork for the first game, and for Sonic Adventure.
Stance:This is his normal stance from the first Genisis Sonic games. He even taps his foot impatiently if you keep him waiting.
Ducking:In the Genisis era,he always covers his head when he ducks down.
Standard B:This comes from Sonic Adventure, where he could hop from enemy to enemy without touching the ground in some cases. It's speed is reduced dramaticly, though. Up B:In Sonic games, springs are present in nearly every level.the design comes from the Sonic Adventure springs. Running A:This is refering to his running Spinball from his debut to video games. Down B:Not only is this his signature attack, but it's pulled off exactly like in the games. FS:Whenever Sonic collects the seven Chaos Emeralds,he gains the powers of invincibility and flight, and the ability to damage anything he touches. However,he needs rings to sustain it. ------------------ Meta Knight
Up taunt,Entrance,Down B,and Winning animation:Meta Knight uses his cape to warp away when beaten in Kirby games.
Jump:In Kirby Superstar,MK reveals that he has a pair of bat-like wings that he uses to chase Kirby and Wheelie.
Glide:In the same game,he uses them to get away.
Down Taunt:He flexes in a manner similar to when he first revels his wings.
Standard B:In KSS,Meta Knight could spin in a fury of sword swipes, and move about the screen. Side B:When Kirby weilds Galaxia(Called Master) in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror,he gains several moves that Sword cold never preform. One of these moves is an attack that works like Drill Rush.It can't be steered, however. Up B:Wing Kirby could preform the same move in KSS.
Blue alternate color:It greatly resembles Dark Meta Knight,of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. ------------------------- R.O.B.
Entrance:This alludes to the fact that he is a factory made toy.
Standard B,side taunt and FS:A scanning laser was his main feature in the Robot game series, and it was what gave him orders to move. Side B,down smash, and down taunt:R.O.B. takes advantage of his 360 torso rotation. Down B:This is the Gyro used for R.O.B.'s most famous game,Gyromite. ------------------------ Pokemon Trainer
Ivysaur Standard B:This must've been hard to translate, but it stems from the move Bullet Seed, which I THINK can hit enemies that have flown up high. Ivysaur Side B:This is translated from Chikorita's version of Razor Leaf, but more slow paced. Ivysaur A combo and up B:These are both a form of Vine Whip, which Ivysaur uses to not only attack, but manipulate items.
Squirtle Side B:This stems from Widthdrawl, and acts like a Koopa Shell, actually.
Charizard Standard B:This is from it's attack as a Pokeball Pokemon,Flamethrower. It even seems to do the same amount of damage when a short burst is used. ---------------------- Pikmin & Olimar A combo:This is the same one two punch he uses in the Pikmin series to defend himself.Like the series,it's also pretty weak.
Standard B:In Pikmin, you needed the little vegetables to help you with all sorts of things. It would make sense that he has this move, since he needs them to fight. But you needed to be over a Pikmin sprout to do it.Here,Olimar plucks them from out of nowhere. Side B:This was the basic way you assigned Pikmin to certain duties, like carrying ship parts/treasures,or fighting the hostile wildlife. Down B:This was how you called Pikmin back to you. However,it was aimable to a degree. Here, you can only use it directly over yourself.
Pikmin death:When Pikmin get defeated, they do not die like Smashers normally do.They disappear, releasing their ghosts as they did in the game.
Final Smash:This is a reenactment of what happens at the end of every level in Pikmin and Pikmin 2.The crash at the end is a reference to how both games started out:With the Dolphin/Research ship crashing onto the planet.

Yoshi
B - Egg Lay This obviously originated from SMW2. The only difference from it's first appearance is that you can't throw it.
B Up - Egg Throw This also originated from SMW2. The only difference is that there is no cursor to aim with.
B Down - Yoshi Bomb Once again, it comes from SMW2. However, this move can be done when you are standing on land. In the original game, you had to be in the air.
Final Smash - Super Dragon Believe it or not, this indeed originated from a game. That game is SMW. This Final Smash combines both the wing abilities and fireball abilities Yoshi recieves from eating a certain Koopa shell in the original game. |

Snake
Entrance: From the opening Scene of the Tanker Chapter of MGS2, where Snake jumps from the Bridge onto the Tanker and his Stealth malfunctions. "Kept you waiting, huh?" is also what he tells Otacon when he contacts him on CODEC.
Standard B: The standard Grenade from every Metal Gear game. Holding it longer would result in Snake pulling his arm back further, as seen in Brawl.
Side B: The NIKITA, originally from MGS1. In game, however, you could only move it horizontally and not vertically. It would eventually run out of fuel, resulting in it not falling but exploding.
Down B: The C4, which would be set with one button and detonated with another. Snake could set as many C4 as he could carry at a time, however, and it looked completely different. In the Metal Gear Series, it could be placed onto enemy soldiers and detonated as they tried to run.
Up B: The Cypher camera that was used to frame Snake of being a terrorist after knocking out Olga Gurlukavich, and when Metal Gear RAY was hijacked by Ocelot. Snake never actually owned one from what we know of, and there were numerous ones outside of the Big Shell in MGS2, sometimes armed with machine guns that shot on sight.
Taunt: The Cardboard Box was from the first Metal Gear onward, and was used to hide in plain sight from enemies. In Metal Gear Online, it had a tactical purpose as well - preventing enemies from getting Headshots as you ran between cover.
Grab: The grab itself is from not CQC but Snake's own training. The neck snap was a vital way to kill enemies in Metal Gear Solid, and a way to knock them out in MGS2. The throws, however, are Big Boss's CQC which Snake somehow gets knowledge of in MGS4.
Side Smash: The RPG-7, used by Big Boss in Snake Eater but also accessible to Snake in MGS4, from what we've seen.
Up Smash: A tripod mounted rocket launcher, seen briefly in trailers from MGS4. The projectile can travel distances, however, and not be shot straight up in MGS4.
Down Smash: Claymore mines were used both for and against Snake. During the fight against Vulcan Raven in the tank, Snake could set Claymores removed from the battlefield as traps to temporarily disable the Tank's movement. Snake had fought Gray Fox in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake hand to hand in a minefield as well. They were invisible upon being planted, and Snake could only see them with Thermal Goggles/a Mine Detector.
Winning poses: Snake usually kneels while using the CODEC, and presses his hand to the small device in his ear. Rolling and crawling is a technique in Metal Gear Solid in order to enter vents/go under doors more easily. Snake throwing off the cardboard box actually never happens, as it either disappears upon equipping another item or an enemy throws it off of Snake himself. |

Wario
B - Chomp This could be based on Wario's suction move from Wario World, where he would suck up several coins in his path, it doesn't have the ability to suck up things here.
B Side - Wario Chopper Wario's bike made an appearence in several Wario Ware games, and Mario Kart Wii. Here, it can be used as a weapon as well.
B Up - Corkscrew This is Wario's Corcksrew Conk from Wario World, without the running.
Final Smash - Wario-Man Beginning with Wario Ware Touched, every Wario Ware game [excluding SM] would have Wario-Man as a character. The transformation is just about the same, but Wario would trigger it with rotten garlic.
Side Smash: This is Wario's famous ram move from Wario Land and Master of Disguise.
Side Throw: This is Wario's Wild-Swing-Ding from Wario World. |

Kirby
Appearance/Costumes: Kirby comes in his signature pink-and-red color scheme. Other color schemes include several costumes from his alternate forms in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, and his black-and-white color scheme found in the original Kirby's Dream Land.
Entrance: Kirby crashes to the ground on a warpstar. The Warpstar is a common mode of transport in the Kirby series, often transporting Kirby to a new area, crashing into the ground, and disappearing soon afterward.
Symbol: Kirby's symbol is the Warpstar. See above.
---
Rapid A: Kirby rapidly punches, an ability he exhibits from Kirby Super Star using his Fighting ability.
Dash A: Kirby breakdances as he moves forward. This is one of the abilities he exhibits in Kirby Super Star using the Yo-yo ability.
---
Jump: In most games, Kirby can inflate and jump a near-infinate number of times. A limit (5) has been created in the Super Smash Bros. series.
Up Taunt: Kirby does a small dance. Often when he finishes a level, Kirby will do a dance similar to this.
---
Forward Throw: I believe this is a pile driver attack from Kirby Super Star when Kirby has the suplex ability.
Upward Throw: This is a throw used by Kirby in Kirby Super Star when Kirby has the ninja ability.
Backward Throw: This is a throw used by Kirby in Kirby Super Star when Kirby has the suplex ability
Downward Throw: This is Kirby's "Rapid Stamp" attack, a Suplex attack from Kirby Super Star
---
Neutral Special: This is Kirby's "Inhale" move that he has exhibited since Kirby's Dream Land. Since Kirby's Adventure, Kirby has been able to copy his enemies' abilities.
Forward Special: This is Kirby's "Hammer" ability that has appeared in most games since Kirby's Adventure. However, the sideways swing seen in Brawl was not used until Kirby Super Star.
Upward Special: This is a variation of Kirby's Cutter ability in Kirby Super Star. When used in close range, Kirby would repeatedly cut his foe before slashing them upward and finishing them off. The final part of this attack is seen here.
Downward Special: This is a near-exact replica of Kirby's Stone ability. In most games, Kirby would have unlimited time as a stone, though a time limit has been added for this move. The stone ability has been present since Kirby's Adventure, though multiple objects for Kirby to transform into was first present in Kirby Super Star. Kirby can transform into his classic Kirby's Adventure stone form, a Super Mario 64 Thwomp, a garbage block from Panel De Peon, and a 100 ton weight.
Final Smash: Kirby uses his Chef Ability, first introduced in Kirby Super Star when Kirby swallows Chef Kawasaki. It is a one-use ability where Kirby draws every enemy on the screen into his pot and turns them into food. |

SAMUS / ZERO SUIT SAMUS
Samus
Entrance: Samus walks out of a Save Station.
Alternate Colors: Classic Varia Suit (Pink), Gravity Suit (Purple), Fusion Suit (Blue), Dark Suit (Brown)
B: Charge Shot. Starting in Super Metroid, Samus could charge up her Power Beam to unleash a more powerful shot. This technique has been in every Metroid title since. Samus could continue moving and jumping in the middle of charging up her beam; in SSB, this is transferred over by pressing the shield button to store the charge.
Side-B: Missiles. There are two kinds of Missiles, normal ones and Super Missiles. The normal missiles home in on enemies, like they do in the Metroid Prime games. However, this ability was featured in Super Smash Bros. Melee, well before Metroid Prime was released, so it's safe to say that the function wasn't derived from that game. The green-headed Super Missiles made their debut in Super Metroid, where they were significantly stronger than the normal Missiles. These don't home in on enemies.
Down-B: Bombs. When Samus turns into her Morph Ball form, she is capable of laying bombs. These bombs can be used to damage enemies or propel herself into the air. The latter is known as the bomb jump. This technique is preserved in the Super Smash Bros. series, but it is performed differently, and, unlike in the actual games, is used mostly to gain horizontal distance rather than vertical. In the actual games, you can usually lay 3 bombs at a time, but in this game, you can only lay 2.
Up-B: Screw Attack. The Screw Attack is one of the strongest abilities in Samus's arsenal, capable of tearing most enemies to shreds with a single hit - it's that it's her symbol. In the Smash series, it delivers a multi-hit attack that draws enemies in, then spits them back out.
Grab: Grapple Beam. The Grapple Beam allows Samus to swing from certain objects. In the Smash series, it draws enemies close to her to attack, then throw. This Grapple Beam is most likely based on its Super Metroid appearance; in the Prime games, it comes out of her left arm rather than the arm cannon. It's electrical abilities in midair might be a nod to a secret method of defeating the boss Draygon.
ZERO SUIT SAMUS
Alternate Colors: Echoes / Hunters / Corruption Zero Suit (Chosen through Fusion Suit colors)
B / Down Smash: Paralyzer. When Samus lost her Power Suit in Metroid Zero Mission, she was only equipped with an emergency pistol. This pistol was incapable of doing any damage to Space Pirates; it could only stun them for a few seconds. Even then, it took several seconds for it to become fully charged again, so she had to wait before she could use it again. In this game, the wait time isn't there, so you can stun enemies over and over again...of course, the effect doesn't stack.
Final Smash: Power Suit Samus. This ability is most likely derived from a secret skill in Super Metroid known as the Crystal Flash. When Samus's energy was dangerously low, and she had enough Missiles, Super Missiles, and Power Bombs, she could perform this technique to completely restore her Power Suit...though at the cost of the aforementioned, of course. In this game, you don't need any of those to restore it - all you need is a Smash Ball.

Mario
B - Fireball This obviously originates from the Fire Flower Mario recieves in most of his games
B Side - Cape This originates from the feather Mario gets from SMW. However, it has a huge difference; It's meant to deflect back projectiles.
B Up - Super Jump Punch This is a spinoff of when Mario hits a coin block.
B Down - FLUDD This comes from SMS, and is portaying the first nozzle you have (Besides Hover Nozzle).
A Down (Air) - Mario Tornado This is a spinoff of Mario's spin jump in SMW.
Backwards Throw This, once again, is a spinoff of when Mario throws Bowser in SM64. |
