This is a serious topic. If anyone riddles this topic with flame or spam, I will push that report button in your post. So, don't even think about it!

At 5:30 AM (EST) this morning, my mom had a scheduled surgery at Cooper Hospital about ten minutes away from my house. This isn't any regular surgery...

She's having brain surgery.

It all started in September 1, 2006, at around midnight. My mom began to have very painful headaches. She felt like she had a massive head injury. She was taken to the emergency room that night, for a check up. Nothing much from the results, the doctors said it was only headaches. Then, the next night, the headaches came back. She was in worse pain than the night before. This became very serious. Mom was sent to the emergency room again. The doctors now found out that there was something wrong with her brain.

They sent her to Cooper Hospital, in Camden, to see what was going on. They got the real results....

Six brain strokes and a cerebral hemorrhage.

After a few x-rays and blood tests, the doctors found out that my mom’s brain has been leaking blood at a rather quick pace. They even sent data about this incident to the most professional doctors around the United States, there was absolutely no clear result on how the strokes and hemorrhage was caused. My mom was then vision impaired and could not see from both eyes while in the hospital. She was sent back home so the doctors could try to collect reports on this happening.

Mom was in a very bad condition. Not only was her blindness doing most of the effect on her, she had trouble eating, she could not read, write or drive. Things were looking grim. She was sent to the hospital constantly to have blood transfusions, CAT scans… you name it. She was allowed only certain medication to take everyday, she was not allowed to eat certain foods, she had to stay away from sunlight or lighted areas, she needed to have someone assist her… it was terrible.

Today, the most professional doctors in Cooper Hospital are performing brain surgery. They are going to find out what caused the strokes and hemorrhage and try to stop the bleeding in her brain. They will possibly try to fix up her eyesight, so she could at least see again.

There is a 25% chance (possibly more) that mom may not survive the surgery.

Mom will miss my birthday... and this is only adding a lot of pressure to me.

I wish you and your mom the best of luck.

I wouldn't like to be played in my brain like that...

Oh Jesus Christ...

M'aiq feels terrible...Sad He wishes there was something he could do to help out, and it makes him feel worse that there is nothing he can do to help. Ohhh dear...M'aiq really hopes everything goes okay, really he does. He supposes that is all he can do. M'aiq also hopes that, no matter what the outcome, we may still remain pals after this. ...she'll make it through. Strong people like that can't fall so easily. And in the words of Han Solo, "Never tell me the odds".

She's in the hands of intelligent, responsible doctors, who have gone through years upon decades of training for a moment like this. You have nothing to worry about. Smile

Oh, man... I wish you and your mom the best of luck...

It's hard watching a parent go through something like that.

I wish there was something I could do to help... ._.

Woah... best of luck to your mom. Mister I covered what I wanted to say though, just keep saying "she'll make it though!" and hopefully things will work out. If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to PM me...

Ehee hee hee! That's truly tragic, however, I'm entirely certain that she will make it through the surgery. Just keep reminding yourself that the percentages are in her favour. As long as your mother is determined and has an invulnerable will, she will pull through. Just think positively about this, and it will prove beneficial! Never give up hope, Cody. She's in exceptional hands, and they will endeavour to keep your mother alive, at all costs.

((Not sure if Cody will want to read what's below, so it's spoiler'd))
That actually reminds M'aiq of something his Psychology teacher told his class. People who are not hopeful for the success of a surgery were more likely to die, according to a test that was conducted. It was done with heart surgery patients if M'aiq recalls. 9 of the 10 who had little hope for a successful operation ended up, well...

Cody, make sure that you make your mother look forward to returning home. Give her hope and confidence, and try to boost her morale as much as you can(if it's possible/you can visit her). M'aiq hopes for the best, Cody... Sad

Wow. Really sorry to hear that. However, I can't do anything about it but encourage you, I know you'll get through it, and I'm sure your mom is going to survive. If not, she'll still be with you.
