Hello, you've reached Plastic Mario's answering machine. I'm busy repenting for my sin of drinking a gallon of coke earlier today, so please accept this wall of text.
*Beep*
Hi. I'm Plastic Mario, one of the moderators of digibutter.nerr. I would like to begin by saying the introduction to this topic was not funny in any fashion, although you've already noticed by now. Also, I enjoy making failed attempts to be funny.
Seeing all the discussion and such about the moderator status, I'd like to enlighten you about the position, and what it means when you become one.
The first and foremost thing that you can see coming from a mile away is the workload. Once you become a mod, you're expected to be online for a loooong time each day. You have to deal with reports coming in every few minutes, and the pressure of deciding whether a post is strikeworthy or not. This can be difficult, and once you've deemed a post strikeworthy or not, you can't take your decision back. And you have to be bias-free about everything. Striking your closest friends on Digibutter can be reeeally painful, sometimes.
Second, you're expected to set a good example. No spam, no rulebreaking, nothing. As a member, there are people that retain their popularity, even after getting jailed numerous times. Not mentioning any names. As a mod, you make one move that even remotely resembles strikeworthy, and the entire Digibutter population is complaining about how you're unworthy and all that stuff. I'm not kidding about the "Entire population" thing.
You know why we complain about those noobs with horrible grammar and stuff? We do it for a reason. Lemme pull an introduction from the new users forum, real quick...
Topic title: "hi"
Message body: "hi all you people"
I'm serious. Just imagine what it's like to have to deal with these people. We get so much bull in that forum... It's ridiculous. We've had people with only curse words in their intros (And in one case, their name), burning flags of countries, and death threats after we've said "Your introduction isn't very reassuring".
And of course, the people always complaining about the "popularity imbalance" and the fact that mods are always targeted first, just because of position.
I'd say... The only perk is... Getting important positions in stuff without asking, if you like being important.
And there's lots of stuff I forgot to mention.
In conclusion... Modship is for those who have a passion for the site, and those who are willing to take a lot of time out to contribute as much as possible. Remember... We're making digibutter digibetter.
Oh, and leave a message after the beep. My magical answering machine will answer your questions and st00f.

No. Is there any secret mods like ninjas? Can you see the Dump forum? How about the user group forum? Does Francis post in the mod forum regularly? Do you guys get info on new stuff before the rest of digi? The mod plots, who come up with them? |

Even after reading that wall of text, I still wouldn't mind being a mod. |

I could only be on for about 1.5 hours a day [4 hours on the weekend] due to a time limit on my internet connection, but I'd be on when not many other people are, 'cos of timezones...
*bangs head against wall* NO ! BAD ZELNOR ! NO ASPIRING MODSHIP ! YOU'D GO POWERCRAZY AND WOULD START STRIKING LIKE CRAZY !
I think I respect you more now, Plastic...
I wish I could do something for Digibutter, but I think my Zeal would be my bane. |

I thought it was funny...
Are reports anonymous, or do they show who reported the person? |

I can actually be online for the majority of the day if I want. To tell you the truth, I love Digibutter. There are so many awesome people here compared to the other places I go to. I just want the chance to help, and maybe lessen the massive workload of you guys. I mean, you all deserve it. |
