Pyroclasm wrote: | What I find really ironic is that most people don't know the actual root of their religion. I actually find this concentrated in Christians (no offense). Just to give an example, my friend said supposedly Christianity started at the "dawn of time". How horribly ignorant. If that were so, than our universe is only two thousand years old. I'm not surprised how a lot of people don't know that Constantine created Christianity for the sole purpose of power.
And strangely enough, that same kid thinks that Christianity is older than Hinduism. And surprise surprise, guess what the three most ancient religions are? Judaism (somewhere along the line of 6000 years old), Zoastrianism (god knows [lol pun]) and Hinduism (Fairly ancient. I'd say around ten thousand years, from what I've read in my books).
As well, religious preachers must die. I mean, they claim their religion is better when they don't know shit about that other religion. Most preachers that I've seen and tried to convert me said this, and I quote, "You're worshipping the devil!". Say those words to my beutiful behind. I actually counter with a very valid argument, and I quote , "How do you know if you are not worshipping the devil yourself?" You know, the whole irony of this is that all religions, in general, actually tell you to lead a virtuous life. And we use that to fight against ourselves? Why? Because there's only one word we can use to describe the human race. Imbeciles.
There it was, my massive speech on racial ignorance. |
I agree with you... but Constantine didn't "create" Christianity for his own power. That's just kind of... skipping over the whole part of time when the Romans fed Christians to lions. o_O
Whether or not you believe Jesus was the son of god or not, he was a real historical figure that preached about doing unto others as you wish to be done unto you, and he did gain a religious following of people who did believe he was the son of god.
As an agnostic, I think he was probably kinda off his rocker when he claimed he was god's son. However, give the man some credit. |

True. But Constantine changed the main religion of his people to Christianity to stay in power. |

Prove it, Fink rat. Simply throwing a controversial argument into one of th e few coherent discussions here won't do you good. If even you notice it's off topic, and even mark it like that, at least try to make a connection or present some evidence supporting your hypothesis. |

Sexism branches from back at our time as cavemen, where men did the hunting and women did the... Friendly tasks. Over time, this gave men a sense of superiority over women. |
