Its been over a year... Probably two... Mom wanted another cat soon after and so we have Dusty. Crazy lovable Dusty... He is not a replacement, no one and nothing can ever replace someone or something you hold so dear... He is more like... a helping hand in dealing with the loss.
I'm not saying to get another pet soon, but when you think you are ready... you'll want to have another family-friend running around the house. A new friend, though clearly not a replacement or substitute. Just another friend to help. |

A new pet can never replace an old pet... but a house always just feels empty without pets.
I like to paint a portrait of every cat as I obtain them, so when they die I have a nice memento that I put lots of time into and has a lot of their character in it (namely when the cat tries to sit in my lap while i have the painting at the table right next to me and so on)
Maybe you could try that in the future. :3 Or, find a photo of your dog that died and paint her now. |
