Since alts have become something you change quicker then underpants, I suppose we could bring some specialness back into the feature with this little suggestions. I know that this will be mercilessly unsupported, but I'll still post it.
People only see the good in things when they're gone. I don't want to delete alts or something, but here's my deal:
After you've created an alt, there can be no changes to that alt until 30 days are over.
I think alts are an interesting feature, but they're changed so fast and taken for granted so easily, we should honor them more and use them not for what makes up 90 % of Digibutter spam, which is either "HAI GAIZ I AM NEW ALT PRAISE ME AND MY RANDOM PLOT WHICH MAKES EVERYONE TOTALLY OOC BUT HEY THIS IS ABOUT FUN AMIRITE" (fun, yes, but with honor for the original work and a bit of sophistication. Even though we all use prefect grammar and spelling, I am uncertain whether that makes matters worse or better - misspelled stupid spam is easy to ignore. "Correct" spam tells you that the author has potential, but doesn't care.). The other half of Digi-Buggery is composed of Really Pointless Topics (R.P.T.), like "Look at this unimportant event in my life that links to an ancient fad, "Hail Me, I heroically exclaimed a fad in real life" and, especially, "Look at this YouTube(Poop) video which is about the same as all others, only it displays the same fad backwards."
I know I'm practically shoveling the hate upon me, which I shouldn't do, especially since I just got down to posting my first emo opinion topic myself (and am really ashamed of that.)
It's just that even I am getting tired of posting "Come on, guys, zou can do better then this" twenty times a day.
Maybe I'm loosing my "faith" in Digibutter.
Yours sincerely,
the invisible one,
~ Zelnor. |

Well, about the suggestion itself, I'm not going to disagree. There is one problem, though. In an actual decent plot, what if someone has to die and some other alt has to join the fray? The plot can't wait for 30 days. |

I agree. And I don't think people should be able to "Claim" alts they don't have. It's pretty stupid if you ask me. :/ |

Absolutely not. There are appropriate situations for changing alternate characters quickly. Role-Play Off Topic was created for the quick-paced bustling fun that is commonly seen there. However, large plots are also initiated in that forum, and as I said a fast rotation of alternate characters is sometimes needed. |

I just think that, like name-tags, the feature has gone overboard and made a mockery of the original intent,. If oyu don't have enough alt-slots, people use their sig and colors, instead of just writing a name in novel style.
If they don't like their username, they spraypaint it white on white background and make their usertitle their "new name".
I want more serious RPing here, with none of that alt-stuff or "FRANIS MAEK MOAR ALT SLOTZ PLS" sig thing...
Okay, if not alt mode-lock, then quadruple coins for posts in the REAL RP forum and a special RP moderator.
Maybe not that extreme, but something to revive "old school" RP.
With IC-ness.
And novel style. |

What about like a nametag for alts, making that the only way to change it? I don't really care that much though... |

Uhh, no.
What if you UNKNOWINGLY stole someone else's alt and they wanted you not to use it? Then you'd be down one alt slot for a month. |

I would love to revive old RP in novel format, but I know no one else here will do it. :/
I don't really like RPOT at all, but it's where I have to get my RP jollies if I get any at all. |
