Here's the thing about the Killzone 3 beta: It's best played with friends. But due to the limited number of players in the beta, the likelihood of forming a squad with your best gamer pals is pretty close to never going to happen. Ultimately, the beta experience suffers because of this -- the mutliplayer modes are based around playing as a cohesive squad, much like in Bad Company 2.

Without friends, I've been forced to suffer the unpleasant randomness that is the general population of PSN players. Most of these folks are horrible teammates.

Don't get us wrong -- we like Ezio and his gentlemanly facial hair plenty, but the opportunity to play as Metal Gear Solid's bionic man, Raiden? That's simply thrilling. And it seems we'll be able to do just that, as an anonymous tipster has sent us images revealing Raiden as a playable skin in this month's Assassin's Creed game, Brotherhood. As with AC's Altair in MGS4, it seems Ubisoft and Konami have again come together to forge a beautiful collaboration for fans of both series.

Beyond the images, our tipster claims that the Raiden "outfit" is unlocked upon completing all tasks in the Animus' new "virtual training" mode, leaving us with hope that we could complete the training first and play through Brotherhood as Raiden from the get-go -- and, just maybe, fooling ourselves into thinking we're actually playing Rising.

Majin, like Denver: The Last Dinosaur before him, isn't just your friend -- he's a whole lot more. According to Game Republic art director Sousuke Miyaura, he's "the personification of all nature," able to devour the creatures of darkness that pollute the world. He's also there for high-fives.

An important note to the Def Jam Rapstar marketing team, regarding the ad you'll find after the break:

When a schizophrenic, liquor-soaked homeless man smashes into your conference room and shouts, "Just show Hulk Hogan rapping with his old balls fully out there and everything! Also, Jimmy Hart, Mouth of the South, have him a-movin' and a-shaking nearby! Coo-poo-pa-loo!" the proper response is to call security.

The wrong thing to do is thoughtfully stroke your chin and say, "Well, maybe if we censored the old balls?"

Sincerely,
Joystiq

In an interview with Famitsu (translated by 1UP), Shinji Mikami and Bethesda's Asia GM Tetsu Takahashi revealed that Tango Gameworks is already at work on a major, AAA title for Bethesda. "That's the only sort of title we're interested in," Takahashi explained. "Any such project is going to involve tens of millions of dollars either way, so instead of cutting dev time and features and hoping for a million copies sold, it's better to take your time, make something great and aim for five million instead. We believe that there's actually less risk when you do it that way."

According to Mikami, this project will be his last as a director, though he intends to focus on running Tango after the (currently unannounced) game is complete. "I can only last for so long handling both director and company president duties," Mikami said, "and besides, I want to give our younger developers a chance." Bethesda knew of Mikami's intentions before its parent Zenimax acquired Tango, he insisted, and he was brought on with the understanding that he wouldn't be directing every game. That said, Mikami reassured that he would aim to put "all of my experience, my energy and everything else I've got into this game."

Bejeweled Blitz Live has been rated by Germany's USK and Australia's classification board. The Australian listing is quite vague, giving the impression the title could be bound for retailers on PC, but the USK classification blatantly declares it as an Xbox 360 title. Perhaps it will appear for both. Developer and publisher PopCap Games tells Joystiq it is currently "not commenting" on the matter.

PopCap introduced Bejeweled Blitz to Facebook gamers almost two years ago, and added Zuma Blitz this year. Let's see if PopCap can beat the ESRB's hat trick of announcing its games.

Hi everyone,

With the holidays quickly approaching, the PlayStation Plus team is working hard to deliver some great content for you to enjoy. Kicking off this update is Shatter, a unique puzzle game that received great scores from both IGN and GamePro. Not only does Shatter deliver amazing gameplay; it is also known by it’s brilliant soundtrack. Also, for those that picked up Abe’s Oddysee on our October 19 update, be sure to visit the second chapter from the developers at Oddworld Inhabitants, Abe’s Exoddus. These two titles are a great way to get prepped for the remake of Stranger’s Wrath. Included in this update is a free download of DYNOGEMS, sales on PSN games, and a discount on the MAG add-ons. Finally, for gamers in Canada who are looking to add some peace of mind to their gaming console, we will be discounting a 2-year PlayStation Protection Plan for Canadian PS3 owners on November 16. As always, here’s a friendly reminder to pick up the content that will removed from PlayStation Plus, including free downloads of Burn Zombie Burn, Abe’s Oddysee, and Bloons.
