Somewhat obscure animated movies, HO!

Persepolis - French, but subtitles are available.
The Triplets of Belleville - also French, but has next to no dialogue. Great character designs.
The Thief and the Cobbler - some of the best animation I've ever seen. Download the Recobbled version; it's the closest thing you'll get to seeing it how its creator intended. Read the wikipedia article for the full story on that.
The Plague Dogs - Based on a novel by Richard Adams, and in some ways it's better. One of the few animated adaptations to have a sadder ending than the original story. The studio that made this also made another movie based on Adams' work, Watership Down.

Slumdog Millionaire *crag* seconded. Amazing movie.

Milk is pretty great, too. Sean Penn was fantastic in it.
