I can't think of any quotes off the top of my head, but I know there were at least 5 instances where the number 256 was used.

I'm not completely sure, but isn't the wii a 256 bit system?

Anyway, discuss.

it all started with 8-bit.

eventualy, they decided to make the size of the pixels half-size.

and that's how 16 got created, since 8 + 8 is 16. eventualy came the 32 bit revolution, and then 64!!!!!!!

after that 128 was made.(gamecube) and guess what came after that- 256. it's the wii graphic.

It's exactly one over the storage value of a single byte. Other than that, I don't know.
