I'll remember the Wii launch for the rest of my life. I was in NYC for launch night, and the showing from Nintendo fans was staggering. There was a huge excitement for the Wii, unlike any other Nintendo system I've seen. It was a night of promise and wonder, mystery and excitement.

Here are are 5 years later. Did the Wii live up to all that hype? Of course it didn't, but no system from any developer could. The Wii may not have reached the heights we hoped for, but it definitely changed the industry. The Wii ended up being one of the most important consoles this industry has seen, whether you care for its software or not.
