Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's controversial 'London' scene revealed, Infinity Ward talks media reaction
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had a rather controversial airport scene in it, and it seems that Modern Warfare 3 is going to offer up a similar experience. Check out the details below.
- features a family of tourists in Londo
- they're on a trip to see Big Ben
- the father is taking a movie of his daughter and the girl's mother when a truck pulls up
- the truck explodes beside them, killing them
- a toxic gas is released from the truck
- this is a non-interactive cut-scene
- players can opt-out of viewing this content
This scene is sure to cause controversy, just like the airport scene before it. Here's what Infinity Ward's executive producer Mark Rubin had to say about the media's reaction to this kind of content.
"Yeah, we get a lot of that and it's tough, but for the most part what happens is a lot of media outlets play it up, and it goes on some Friday afternoon, Friday night news thing, and they talk about how horrible it is that they're killing people in the middle of our subway, but it's the cricket after that, and no-one cares. The media a lot of times plays on it because they hope to get something out of it, rile somebody up to start a conversation about it, but everybody kind of stares at them just going: 'Next...oh, that's an interesting story.' And they pass right over it."
