I don't know what it is about Japanese gamers, but they just don't seem that interested in The Legend of Zelda series. They're clearly more willing to pick up portable entries in the series, but even those titles put up Japanese sales that pale in comparison to what sells through in the states.

In its debut month, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has only sold around 320,000 units in Japan. The title has now fallen out of the top 20, which makes it quite hard to see any future big bursts in sales. Why is it that Japan lacks interest in the series while we eat it up?
