We've seen Nintendo prove touch screen gaming's merit with the DS. Not only that, but the Wii U also supports traditional controls via the rest of the GamePad's features. If that's not your cup of tea, there's also Wiimote/Nunchuk controls, as well as Pro Controller. Nintendo is offering multiple ways to play, but people are more than happy to ignore those and bash the GamePad. Talk about being shortsighted!
