Francis, I have a business model to propose.

For several months now, you have gradually leaked plans for a "Nerr 3.0," that supposedly combines MMO-style game mechanics, forum posting, and light social-networking elements. This is a very innovative, clever idea! However, the big hurdle that you must tackle is development time and manpower: you, alone, cannot handle RPG-style battle systems, visual representations of forum topics, networking, and the countless other features you are planning by yourself, and release them in a reasonable amount of time. The problem is that you need a partner, and I am the solution to that problem.

If you provide me with your source code, I can help develop your plan when I am not too busy with my own pursuits. Not only that: I can help you design and develop digibutter so that it becomes a viable source of income, and expand and market it across the internet. I can seek out other small websites, quite like yours, that we can take in under our wing, with the promise of security and additional development help for their own sites if they need it, in exchange for an agreed-upon fee. The members of digibutter would have nothing to fear: the other sites need not interact with our own. They will merely be part of a network of sites owned by a single webmaster, you.

In addition, with the growth of digibutter, it will be set up in a manner that the older members who would prefer a private club can very well have that: a clan system quite like the one from the original digibutter forums can be implemented, and the members themselves could manage them. This way, everyone wins, and digibutter becomes a force to be reckoned with.

Ah, but with this plan, no one is a loser; we all win!

Here: to illustrate the simplicity of my plan, I have constructed a crude visual image of my business, which I call "Octopus Expansion." As you can see, Digi remains at the core of the octopus, untouched by the other sites, but those sites are within the octopus's tentacles, the octopus absorbing money from them while scaring off predators.

You're a faggot, Crump.
This is not business, this is a tight-knit group of people dicking around in nice, safe seclusion. It should not be more than that.

Secret clubs are for children; however, what I propose is for gods.
Reply by Lord Crump Sep 17 2012 04:46 GMT
Oh, you and your "gods" shit again.
Here's a hint that will help your business plan: nobody here gives a *crag*, go present it somewhere else.

I've asked Francis about the source code before. Last I heard, he wanted to keep it closed-source for various reasons.

This man is saying My Little Pony roleplaying is for gods. Get the straightjacket, we're going to need it.

That's sort of what I had in mind. Build up an example of what's possible, then offer to host new private worlds. First step is to save up enough money so I can quit my job and work on digi 24/7
Reply by Francis Sep 17 2012 16:25 GMT
can you at least not host my little pony roleplaying
Reply by Nastasia Sep 17 2012 17:13 GMT

You have to make compromises in the business world, Nas. If *I*, for example, was starting a web empire, I'd host pretty much anything that isn't illegal or bigoted--even shit that I absolutely despise--if I could make money off of it, and I'm sure franis would do the same (The more money franis makes, the more he can improve this site). Think of it this way: what's more sweetly ironic than making money off of people you hate, such as those stupid bronies? I don't know about you, but I'd rather enslave and use my enemies than simply not associate with them (This way of thinking makes me a superior being; if you're honestly disliking this approach because of some abstract, idealist "principle," then you are an inferior).

youre strangely pushing really hard for us to be associated with bronies...

I would be completely on board if we decided to pull an Alexander the great and conquer most of the known internet. The only problem is you are putting to much faith in the idea that other sites and their communities would be willing to hand over some of their power, even if it was just in the form of mere suggestion, to a predominant order. the social stress alone would tear the empire apart and would leave nothing left of the old digibutter but a few roaming users.

Les Miserables. That is all
Reply by Grievous Sep 18 2012 00:44 GMT
But this is the internet. technically it's not on the earth, so therefore the social inquiry of Les Miserables becomes invalid, seeing as how it is based on the physical and emotional suffers of humanity combining together, not either or.
