#rumor A patent application published today resurrects the rumor that Sony's next gaming console will suppress the playing of used games, and outlines how such a scheme would be accomplished without the use of an always-on Internet connection for verification. it was rumored a while ago that sony and microsoft would be doing this. i guess now it's kinda confirmed that sony was doing this

Use it as a drink coaster. I think the side effect of this is that people will be more careful about what games they buy. It's why I rarely buy downloadable games, especially from Nintendo.

this will just encourage piracy more, since you cant sell back your games and you cant know for sure what the actual gaming experience will be like until you play it

Piracy isn't really all that possible with the PS3 though, which will most likely be the case with the whatever it is that Sony's bringing out (since they apparently don't want to call it PS4)
