I mean, I love the look, feel and sound of it; really makes me feel like I'm a little kid playing NES games again. The mechanics are pretty sound, from what I've played. Maybe it's the pacing; it feels way too "directed." Not enough room for deviation from the narrative or exploration at your own pace. I'd probably like it better if it wasn't connected in a Metroidvania-style way (Because that way it could just focus on the action and challenging level designs), but if it's going to be Metroidvania-style, then I'd at least like some room for exploration and deviation from the game's narrative.
