Over 400 "contributors and partners" have been paid over ten million dollars for their creations ever since Valve started letting fans design - and sell - Team Fortress 2 gear. In highlighting the sum, Valve pays particular attention to the users behind the recent Robotic Boogaloo update, which was made by around sixty fans and raked in over $250,000. Valve takes a 15% cut of every item it sells in the game, meaning that the company has made a solid $1.5 million profit of that $10 mil, just by selling items it didn't even make. Clearly, I am in the wrong line of work. Team Fortress 2 [Valve]
