As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename "NX."

It's gonna be a new handheld. I have some reasons as to why it most likely will be that I will explain if you want to know why

At least it won't be focusing on that awful 3D gimmick. I just wonder if it'll be another DS redesign. The DS design works and all, but I thought Nintendo was a little more innovative than to release the same console 3 times (not including Lite and XL)

Probably a crossover platform for the next gen of hardware. basically the same games run on both (or more extreme... its one device for both portable and home-TV)

Pff like Nintendo would give up their portable/home fissure. Nah, that gets them money, keep dreaming.

I think it's a handheld because of the mobile push. Also, NX X being 10 and there being (technically) 9 handhelds made so far and that the 3ds is getting old now

shit wow the 3DS is 4 years old now? damn

Those being the G&W, GB, GBA, VB, GBA, DS, DSI, 3DS and N3DS Excluding the lite and mirco devices because they're just redesigns

Also the SP was a test for the clam shell and DSI for cameras (also early videos showed it to have gyro). So, I assume the n3ds is just a test for the second stick and maybe personalizing

9 handheld platforms: G&W, VB, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, DSi, 3DS, N3DS. Also Nintendo has been experimenting with WiiU/3DS cross-platform games recently (Mario&DK TS, OlliOlli2)

Thinking back to that Nintendo Fusion rumour a few months back, being a console/handheld pair where the controller can either link with the main device for increased power and TV display or run separately as a classic handheld device.
