- The Grandmaster will now update its model based on the owner's current kill streak
- Removed the requirement for SSE2 that was introduced during a previous update
- Updated The Jupiter Jumpers so they can be equipped with the Mantreads and the Gunboats
- Halloween event notes:
- The Eternaween server enchantment can now be used to call a server vote to enable Halloween items on that server for a two-hour period
- Fixed an exploit in Helltower caused by attempting to change teams while in hell
- Updated Halloween spells so that the effects will only be visible during Halloween/Full Moon events. Spells will not be removed from the items they have been applied to.

Now through November 11, Team Fortress 2 is celebrating All Hallow's Eve with a new "Scream Fortress" update including a custom Payload Race map replete with spooky skeletons, magic spells and two bickering old men.
The custom map is Helltower, where the Red and Blu teams must each push their own respective cart through enemy territory to an end goal, just like in any traditional Payload Race match. This isn't the usual Payload Race, however, because on this map players can equip a spell book to their action slot, which allows them to pick up and cast various spells throughout the match. There's also a custom event called The Witching Hour - a path appears for each team leading to the base of the in-map clocktower, where players can grab a rare spell and teleport back to their spawn room with enhanced health and speed buffs.
The update also adds over 100 new items for dress-up (turn the Scout into a terrier or give the Pyro a nice Goldilocks wig) and eight new holiday-themed achievements. In order to grab the update, simply head into Steam and boot up Team Fortress 2 for the mandatory install.

And that horrifying description of an obviously terrible idea for a Halloween update — an idea so dreadful that we gave up on it almost fourteen hours ago — was just the FIRST of this year’s many spine-chilling, spine-tingling, all-around spinal cord-injuring shocks. We have one word of advice to those of you who survived our previous four Halloween Specials: Stop lying. These updates will kill you — GUARANTEED! [sound of our lawyers reading that sentence]

I don’t want to make any jokes in this post, because doing so would make me feel like the rubbish, nervous compère trying to entertain the crowd before an amazing comedian, for instance Bruce Forsyth or Jim from Neighbours, comes on. TF2 is a funny game, with funny promotional material around it. It is definitely funnier than I am. Funny like a clown, yes. For instance, this comic, heralding Valve’s shootybang game’s mysterious but surely impending Halloween update. By page two, it’s triumphed with its concept of ‘toilet wine.’ On page five, it’s got bald ghosts pinching each other’s noses. Then there are raccoon sanctuaries, and wills made of human skin and… And, well, yes, very good.
There’s also a teasing mention of portals to the nether realm, which may or may not be the next big thing in TF2 itself.(more…)

- Fixed several bugs that would cause inconsistent behavior when switching between or modifying loadout presets
- Fixed a bug that would cause modifying (i.e., painting, renaming) an item to break loadout presets involving that item
- Fixed the Ubersaw taunt attack using the incorrect deathnotice image
- Fixed the Demoman charge sound being clipped by the weapon crit sound
