A content rating for an unannounced PlayStation 3 version of Atlus' PS2 JRPG Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 has appeared on the ESRB's website, hinting at a future re-release via the PlayStation Network.

A PlayStation 2 Classics version of Persona 4 would complete the series on the PlayStation Network, joining downloadable PSOne versions of Persona and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, the PlayStation 2 game Persona 3 FES, and PSP remakes of Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 3.

Persona 4 previously saw an expanded re-release on the PlayStation Vita in 2012. Atlus announced that a quartet of new series entries -- Persona 5, Persona 4: Dancing All Night, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth -- will hit consoles and portable platforms throughout 2014 and 2015.

When the PlayStation Network is next updated, those playing Minecraft on the PlayStation 3 will find two new skin packs available for purchase. One features koalas and cavemen, while the other focuses on the most famous faces of the PlayStation 3.

According to the PlayStation.blog, the Battle And Beasts skin pack will allow players to dress as koala bears, cavemen, an ocotopus or a particularly angular Cleopatra. The other pack, simply titled "Skin Pack 1", is aimed at "hardcore PlayStation fans" and features Minecraft versions of Uncharted lead Nathan Drake, larcenous raccoon Sly Cooper, "folks from Heavy Rain" and "some Killzone dudes." We'd like to be more specific on who exactly will be representing Heavy Rain and Killzone, but neither Sony nor Minecraft creator Mojang offer further clarification.

Likewise lacking from the announcement are the price points that will be attached to those two DLC skin packs, though territorial Sony devotees will be pleased to hear that Skin Pack 1 is exclusive to the PlayStation 3 incarnation of Minecraft. [Image: Mojang]

Microsoft and Xbox won't be the only producers of original television content aimed at console owners this generation. Variety reports that Sony Pictures Television will be producing an original series called "Powers," which will air via the PlayStation Network.

Powers will be an adaptation of a long-running comic of the same name, written by Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) and illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming (Judge Dredd, Catwoman). The comic mixes crime drama and superhero fantasy, sort of like Law & Order, if Jack McCoy was prosecuting Magneto.

Bendis and Oeming will also serve as producers for the show, which currently has 10 episodes in the works. No release date was given for Powers. [Image: Sony]

After a month of generating new lands for PS3 users to explore, Minecraft has sold one million copies on the PlayStation Network. Mojang's David Kaplan shared the news on Mojang's blog, proving that there are actually still people on this Earth that have yet to buy the build-what-you-want adventure game.

Kaplan noted that the Mojang team is grateful for the support and hopeful that fans are receptive of future updates. As a sales recap, 11 million units of the PC version were sold by last June, and the Xbox 360 version has creeped out another 10 million players with the unsettling hiss of Creepers. Wii U sales are just a bit lower in comparison, as Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson noted in December that there are "no current plans" to reach the console.

Thatgamecompany's flOw will launch next Tuesday, December 17 on PS4, Sony Santa Monica announced in a PlayStation Blog post today. The port of the artsy aquatic indie game will cost $5.99, with its lone DLC priced at $1.99.

Developed by Jenova Chen and Nicholas Clark as a Flash game in 2006, the game was ported to PS3 in February 2007 by thatgamecompany as the developer's first release with music provided by Austin Wintory. Chen and his team went on to develop Flower and Journey, the former joining the likes of flOw, Sound Shapes and Escape Plan on PS4. All four games are Cross-Buy compatible, so owners of any one version of the respective PS3, PS4 or Vita games will have access to the other ones as well.

Sony has expanded its PlayStation Store payment options on the PlayStation 3, allowing users to fund Sony Entertainment Network purchases via PayPal's online money transfer service.

PayPal support was introduced for Sony's Entertainment Network website back in January, and mobile PayPal funding was later made possible with the Mobile Billing option. Up until this week, however, users accessing the PlayStation Network via the PlayStation 3 were only able to add funds using a credit card or prepaid voucher.

A firmware update for the Xbox 360 added PayPal as a billing option in 2011.

In its ongoing efforts to push players toward the PlayStation 4, Sony has added four new games to the PlayStation Network Store, all of which can be pre-ordered right now.

This initiative kicked off last week, as Knack and Warframe pre-order options appeared on the PlayStation Network Store. Today, these games are joined by Assassin's Creed IV, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Killzone Shadow Fall. Additionally, the PSN also offers pre-orders on the limited Gold Edition of Assassin's Creed IV, as well as the Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Ghosts. As you'd expect, these special versions cost more than their standard counterparts, but they also include physical bonus items for truly dedicated fans.

Alongside this news, Sony has also revealed that those who have already pre-ordered current generation versions of Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV or Call of Duty: Ghosts can upgrade their pre-order to the PlayStation 4 iteration of those games for $10. You can find full details on how this process works by visiting Sony's upgrade page, or you can visit the Sony Entertainment Network to place your pre-orders.

Two new DLC packs for The Behemoth's multiplayer beat-'em-up Castle Crashers launch today on the PlayStation Network, bringing the PlayStation 3 version of the game up to speed with its Xbox Live Arcade counterpart.

The Legend of the Blacksmith Pack adds the purple-clad Blacksmith to Castle Crashers' playable roster, and introduces five new weapons in the game's story mode. Today's second DLC release, The Can't Stop Crying Pack, was originally an unlockable bonus for players who purchased both Castle Crashers and The Behemoth's follow-up Battleblock Theater on the Xbox 360. As Battleblock Theater is not available on PSN, the pack is currently the only way to access Hatty Hattington character within the PS3 version of Castle Crashers.

The Can't Stop Crying Pack and The Legend of the Blacksmith Pack are priced at $1.99 apiece.

PlayStation 2 classic The Mark of Kri is coming to the PlayStation 3 via PSN on September 24, a "Making of" blog post on the PlayStation Blog detailing the game's development revealed.

The Mark of Kri first launched on the PS2 in North America in 2002, developed by Sony's San Diego Studio. The title later arrived in Europe in June 2003. The series continued in 2005 when now-defunct developer Bottlerocket Entertainment released Rise of the Kasai, a critically panned follow-up to the original PS2 favorite.

The PlayStation Blog did not reveal a price for the Mark of Kri re-release. On average, PS2 classics are priced at $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.

Today marks the debut of Carnivores HD, a new entry in the long-running hunting franchise from developer Vogster Enertainment, which trades relatively harmless wildlife like bears and lions for something a bit more impressive: Dinosaurs.

"You'll be hunting Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and finally a T-Rex," writes project lead Artem Kuryavchenko on the PlayStation.blog. "There are also flying Pteranodons, and small and peaceful Gallimimuses. Each level is an island about two square miles in size, and features a unique environment. There are deserts and jungles, volcanic islands, and deep forests. Each level comes in three flavors: daytime, evening, and misty."

Kuryavchenko also claims that the wildlife found in Carnivores HD features AI which allows it to behave as it may have in the primordial wilds. Dinosaurs can use both sight and smell to track players and one another (predatory dinos have a tendency to eat non-predatory dinos), and wounded animals will react in fear to the player's presence. Hunters are outfitted with a rifle, a sniper rifle and a crossbow, and are given the option of using either lethal rounds or tranquilizer darts as the mood strikes them.

Carnivores HD appears on the PlayStation Network Store as of today.

The PlayStation 2 version of Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001 will land on PSN as a PS2 Classic next week, the Official PlayStation Blogcast has announced. No specific pricing information was given, but we feel safe in assuming that it'll probably cost around $10, like most other PS2 Classics on the service.

Known as Capcom vs. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 in Japan, the game originally hit arcades in (you guessed it) 2001, and was ported to Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox thereafter. The game includes 48 characters from Capcom and SNK franchises such as Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Rival Schools, Fatal Fury, Darkstalkers and others.

PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance from 12:30 p.m. EDT to about 7 p.m. tomorrow. This is probably related to last week's console-bricking patch, as Sony generally tries to avoid performing maintenance on the same day the PlayStation Store updates. So, PlayStation Store will be down, in addition to PlayStation Home and Account management features. Online multiplayer will be available, but only if log into your PSN account sometime either today or tomorrow before maintenance begins, Sony says. For those concerned about access to PlayStation Plus games or other purchases, a community manager said the Store update will be released tonight, to "allow you to hop into the store tonight ahead of tomorrow’s store update post, and pick up your purchases prior to the Tuesday downtime. Since this is an early update, be sure to take advantage of any current sales now, while you can." PSN Maintenance Scheduled for Tuesday, June 25th [PlayStation Blog]

Crime is a constant feature of video games writing. Somewhere, someone is doing something illicit with them—sometimes comically stupid, sometimes tragic. Games and consoles are currency, objects of dispute, sometimes even weapons themselves. Kotaku's Police Blotter is here to round up the latest in games crime. Disappearing Magic Act SALINA, Kansas—Twenty-eight Magic: The Gathering cards, valued at $1,236, were reported stolen from a parked car here yesterday. The victim, Bodie McKee of Hutchinson, Kansas, told authorities he had gone to his car several times while it was parked and that he may have left the vehicle unlocked. Some of the cards were unwrapped and some were in foil packs, authorities said, and at least one was signed by original Magic: The Gathering artist Rob Alexander. [The Salina Journal] That's Not How You Ask For Change at an Arcade FORT WORTH—Police say a man who had been playing video games in a local game room was shot several times after he pulled out a gun and attempted to rob the place. The unnamed suspect managed to get cash from one of the game room employees and started for the door when another employee, responding to the commotion, whipped out his own gun and fired on the suspect. The suspect lived but was taken to the hospital; he faces a charge of aggravated robbery. [The Star-Telegram] His Bail is $400,000, Plus 10 Percent With the PowerUp Rewards Card HARLINGEN, Texas—Authorities believe they have in custody a man responsible for a string of armed robberies of local GameStops and payday loan joints. Jose Luis Peña, 40, (pictured) is in jail on a $400,000 facing multiple counts related to the holdup spree. [Valley Morning Star] It was a Simple Plan BRISTOL, England—Terry Chambers agreed to burglarize a friend's house to help him with an insurance fraud scheme, but it all unraveled when Chambers broke into the wrong address. While there, Chambers stole "a £200 Xbox game console," but left behind a rounders bat and a replica musket. From there, cops didn't take long to connect the items back to Chambers and get a confession from him about the insurance caper. He's blaming the mistake on the fact he was high on drugs. [The Bristol Post] The Case of the PlayStation Predator TAMPA, Fla.—Police have in custody a 36-year-old man local media is calling the 'PlayStation Predator,' who is said to have met a 14-year-old boy over PlayStation Network, flew to southern California to meet him, and then flew back to Tampa. Authorities were waiting for Tony McLeod at the airport when he landed, as the boy's parents immediately suspected McLeod when their son didn't come home from school. The parents had discovered messages McLeod had sent their son, including sexually explicit texts with pictures, and warned him to stay away. "When you go to a different state and you bring a 14-year-old boy back—and you're an adult and the cops are waiting for you on the runway ... I think the jug is up," said Tampa police Maj. Brian Dugan. [WTSP-TV] Lots of strange things happen in the pages of your local newspaper or on the 6 o'clock news. If you see something, say something. To me, that is. I'd like to write it up. Japanese developer G.rev (probably best known as the co-developer of Ikaruga with Treasure) has announced that it will be bringing its cartoony shoot-em-up Mamorukun Curse! to North America, courtesy of publisher UFO Interactive Games. As you can see in the trailer, there's some serious bullet-hell action, with the big innovation being that scrolling up the screen is manual rather than automatic. This version will also include the Japanese DLC, which means two new maps, two new characters, and full Trophy support.

Mamorukun Curse! showed up in Japan back in 2008 as Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta!, but it'll finally arrive in the US on July 16, at a price of $19.99.

This week, 23-year-old Ohio resident Todd M. Miller was sentenced to a year of house arrest for destruction of evidence and obstructing a federal investigation into a 2008 hacker-led PlayStation Network breach.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that US District Judge Peter C. Economus said Miller was a member of the KCUF hacking clan in 2008 when the group organized an attack on the PlayStation Network, potentially compromising user data.

The FBI contacted Miller while investigating another hack in 2011 that resulted in an extended PSN outage. After obtaining a search warrant, the FBI entered Miller's home to find that his computers were smashed and his hard drives were missing. Lacking evidence to bring up Miller and another suspect on hacking charges, the FBI instead charged Miller with obstructing the investigation.

While Miller faced up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, he was sentenced to three years of probation and a year of house arrest for obstruction of justice. The judge additionally ordered Miller to obtain a high-school equivalence certificate, as part of his sentencing.

The Netflix app on PS3 has been updated, bringing closer design parity with web and mobile applications to the PS3. Netflix has fixed audio stream and subtitle issues in this update, allowing users to fiddle with these while watching content. Before, you had to back out back to the front-end to enable subtitles. If you've got a PS3 Blu-ray remote, just hit the subtitles button to enable.

The "trickplay" component - a fancy term for fast-forwarding and rewinding through a particular program - has been tweaked to show more image still previews while scanning through content. You can also instantly rewind whatever you're watching ten seconds by pressing left on the DualShock dpad or PlayStation remote.

While payouts are still pending the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Sony has settled in a class action lawsuit over the PSN hack and outage in 2011. If you were affected by the outage (i.e. if you had a PSN, Qriocity, or SOE account in 2011, and you're in Canada) you can fill out a claim form here.

If you stopped using your PSN account after the hack, you can ask for the contents of your wallet to be reimbursed. If you kept your PSN account and participated in the "Welcome Back" promotion, you can choose an additional game from a list consisting mostly of the "Welcome Back" games, or you can choose three dynamic PSN themes, or half off three months of PlayStation Plus. Qriocity accounts are entitled to one additional free month. SOE accounts can request repayment of wallet balances for no-longer-used accounts, or $4.50 in "Station Cash."

There is a separate claim form for PSN users who suffered losses from identity theft as part of the hack.

Both Capcom Fighting Evolution (Capcom Fighting Jam in Japan) and Capcom vs SNK 2 are available on PlayStation Network in Japan, leaving fighting fans in the US wanting of what was once a bad business idea. Capcom senior VP Christian Svensson offers a crumb of hope in the Capcom forums, saying both will be here "eventually."

Svensson says we should hear more about both "next year," and that the "timing will be quite different though from Japan." We can't be sure what he means by the latter statement, but since both saw their reemergence as PS2 Classics on Japan's PSN months apart, it's possible there won't be such a gap between releases when they finally arrive in these parts.
