You probably don't need us to tell you to check your emails -- unless, of course, you're one of those people who still mostly rely on analog means of telecommunication. If that's the case: Check your email! There might just be an invitation for the Xbox Live Crysis 2 multiplayer beta in there.

EA has released a video detailing the bonuses included with the Limited Edition of Crysis 2, which you can see after the break. This special release of the game, which includes a SCAR weapon skin, hologram decoy, a unique Platinum Dog Tag and bonus XP, is somewhat less exciting than the Nano Edition, which adds a statue and a backpack -- but, of course, it's more exciting than the standard edition, which only includes ... Crysis 2.
Prepare for the medium level of excitement, is what we're saying.

So you probably think you're pretty good at first-person shooters, right? Well, we're pretty sure you're not as good as the person playing Crysis 2 multiplayer in the video past the break.

Crytek's next first person shooter adds the option to spend an obscene amount of money on a video game, thanks to Crysis 2's "Nano Edition," special package that comes complete with backpack. More »
EA has announced that, for a limited time at launch, a Limited Edition of Crysis 2 will be available for the same price as the standard edition. In other words, "buy the game immediately." The "Limited Edition" includes bonus experience points in multiplayer, a "SCAR Hologram Decoy" that allows players to project an image of themselves, a "SCAR Weapon Skin" in digital camouflage, and an in-game Platinum Dog Tag.
Not extravagant enough? EA also announced the Crysis 2 Nano Edition, which despite its name is quite a bit larger. It'll include the Limited Edition of the game, a steel case, an 11" statue of the protagonist atop an NYC taxi, and an art book. And all of that's inside a backpack (designed to resemble the Nanosuit). This outrageous special edition will only be available via pre-order from EA, for $149.99, £119.99, or EUR 129.99.
In addition, EA announced that a closed beta will be held for Xbox 360 players "later this year." Enjoy some new gameplay footage after the break, and learn about the announced multiplayer modes here.
We learned during EA's investors briefing that the super-pretty, skyscraper-toppling FPS Crysis 2 had been pushed from its initial holiday release window, and would instead arrive during the first quarter (January to March) of 2011. The game's new release date was recently pinpointed by the official Crysis 2 Twitter account: March 22, 2011 for North America, and March 25 for Europe. Or, in other words, just about as late in the first quarter as it could possibly arrive.
Joining this announcement was the release of the first screenshot depicting the game's multiplayer component, posted above. Though it's hard to extrapolate much from the single image, it looks like everyone's going to be wearing bulletproof armor, which should make your standard deathmatch a rather lengthy affair.

Most recently scheduled for release before the end of 2010, perhaps even in the fall, EA has confirmed that Crysis 2 has been pushed to its fourth financial quarter, giving it a release window of January through March of 2011. More »
Crytek's apocalyptic FPS appears to have slipped into the next year. Although originally planned as a "holiday" release, EA's latest financial report places Crysis 2 in the company's financial Q4, which spans January-March of the next year. Barring any further changes, Crysis 2 joins a rather crowded line-up for early 2011, including EA's own Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm, Darkspore, Fight Night Champion, and the newly announced Need for Speed Shift 2. It appears next year's first quarter will be just as hectic as this year's.
EA may offer further insight into the delay during its investor call, happening now. Stay tuned for updates.

The latest trailer for Crysis 2 takes us through the area demoed during EA's E3 press conference. Sure, it looks just as slick as it did last week, but we're confused by the area's "Safe Zone" label. Between the giant killer robots, the average-sized killer robots and toppling MetLife building, we fail to see said zone's inherent safety.

New York City is a bustling metropolis and tourist destination, but in EA's Crysis 2 it's the front line of an alien assault. These new screens depict the otherworldly attack on the city that never sleeps -- with enemies that don't either. They wreak havoc day and (in this case) night.
