Super Pokémon Scramble, the 3DS sequel to the 2009 WiiWare brawler Pokémon Rumble, will be released from its Pokéball into North American retail on October 24 under the name Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Like its WiiWare predecessor, Pokemon Rumble Blast is a Dynasty Warriors-ish beat-em-up in which you control one mechanical "Toy Pokémon" against hordes of other Poké-automata, with, of course, the ability to capture enemies and add them to the playable roster. More than 600 wind-up Pokemon varieties will appear, including new ones from Black and White.
If you happen to meet other players as you wander about the world with your 3DS, you'll be able to view their Miis and engage in automatic battles via StreetPass. Or, you can play together actively in a cooperative local wireless mode.

WiiWare title Pokémon Rumble is getting a sequel of sorts with Super Pokémon Rumble. Known as Super Pokémon Scramble in Japan, the game is a real time action title in which wind-up Pocket Monsters duke it out. More »
Nintendo's online store is a great place to get a Game Boy Micro battery door or a copy of Wii Sports, and now you can get a Virtual Console game and a WiiWare game there too. That's right -- one each.
For some reason, Nintendo put Pokemon Rumble and Super Mario Bros. 3 up for download through its browser-based online store, for $15 and $5, respectively. Purchasing either will give you a download ticket that you can enter in the Wii Shop to download the game. But why? And why just two games? (Although that's one more game than is available from Amazon's Wii download section.) We're checking with Nintendo about the offering now, and will report back if we hear anything.
The only real takeaway here is that a WiiWare game appears to have received a legitimate commercial for television. OK, so it's Pokemon Rumble, and yes, it's one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, but it's still a brave new world when a downloadable title gets some legit marketing dollars. We haven't actually seen the commercial on TV, but it's apparently playing during non-Adult Swim hours on Cartoon Network. Check out the 15-second spot for the 1500 Wii Point game after the break.

The WiiWare demo service arrives in Europe today, though a bit light on content compared to other regions. On the upside, both of the demos offered are for games that cost 1,500 Wii Points, which means you could save a pretty large chunk of change if you discover (somehow) that you don't like World of Goo.
In terms of stuff you pay for, Shootanto is going to be totally overshadowed by Pokemon Rumble. DSiWare has a decent selection of games, including something that looks kind of like Defend Your Castle, a few card games, and myNotebook.
Pokemon Rumble (WiiWare, 1-4 players, 1,500 Wii Points)
Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem (WiiWare, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points)
Army Defender (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points)
A Little Bit of ... All-Time Classics: Strategy Games (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points)
myNotebook: Blue (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points)
Uno (DSiWare, 1-6 players, 500 DSi Points)
Demos: Pokemon Rumble, World of Goo (free)
