Check this speach I am working on:
Prometheus, the title character of a Greek myth, finds himself gazing upon a creature. Before him, he observes a feeble entity, one without the wings of a bird, nor the claws of a leopard; an utterly useless, defenseless, contortion of flesh. This sight overwhelms him; the pathetic nature of this being brings him to tears. This mutilation, this cancer of life, this waste of carbon… this is the human person, without intelligence.
Conversely to the formerly described atrocity, stand the high-rise skyscrapers in which we work, the atoms we spilt, the subatomic particles which we produce, art, literature, and computers. This image, the human entity, brought Zeus to a shudder. With intelligence, humans contend the Gods, thus resulting in institution of a happy hour on Promethean liver oil, a necessity to raven health.
With computers that we are able to apply algorithms to find a solution to a recursive sequence, to which the fallible Gods described in the Greek myths, cannot compare. However, it was not a fully functional Cray supercomputer that we received from Prometheus, it was fire. We where not evolved, primitive; it is in these dark moments of human existence that we developed the unfavorable traits of spirituality and emotion.
Yet, we persevere. In this day, conditions have returned more favorable, for example, cases of Asperger's Syndrome have increased by 57 percent in the United States from the years of 2002 to 2006 *(U.S. Center for Disease Control) (AS is characterized by decreased social interaction, and increased attachment to a discipline, generally mathematics or science). Analyzing the dates, we can see that this is NOT due to increased awareness. Many say that this is degradation, incorrectly; this is evolution. Ami Klin, a researcher, correctly argues that the suffix “Syndrome” should be removed entirely.
Conceder the issue of religion in mathematical terms, a function representing our advancement streams to infinity. God, conversely, exists as a line at infinity. A function does not exist at infinity; however, this should not prevent our progression along x, as a limit to infinity produces the desired infinite result. Practically, both God and reaching God’s variable of perfection cannot make sense. This is taken to consideration, if God exists, his existence cannot make sense to humans. This paper will not needlessly discuss this issue. The issue is that considering spirituality cannot be understood, thus a perfect church cannot exist, churches, however, remain conservative and obstruct development by throwing arguments based upon emotions, e.g. ethics of stem cell research.
Religion is on the decline. The Great British Empire, raised by the Anglican Church, is now comprised only of 16% populous whom claim they see the Church as the greatest factor of their lives. Germany produces fewer in this statistic with 13%. In the United States, home of the Bible belt, Catholic worshipers are dropping by one percent an annum. These figures represent official attachment to a religion, not belief in a God.
The loosening of these conservative chains allow us to progress; a century former, silicone semiconductors did not exist, the existence of DNA was unknown, and many elementary particles where yet unknown causing some scientists to even doubt the law of conservation of matter. Conversely, we now we maintain transcendently long calculations on computers, we understand the full functioning of life, and we no longer question the laws of conservation, now linked due to the work of Albert Einstein.
On the note of Einstein, he was quoted stating “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity”. Humanity is an error, an imperfection. Allow us to conceder this now in terms of Economics; an ideal competitive market only exists when all parties are solely concerned about their own welfare. Practically, this does not occur. This is because a second condition exists; all parties must be in full knowledge of what constitutes their welfare. Consider this, a corporate entity destroys all ulterior competition, thus sustaining a monopoly and increases all prices, this is excellent at first, however, soon consumers are pressed and create anti-monopoly laws out of their own interest. Thus, humanity is tolerable, until we advance to full knowledge, at which point, it becomes purely harmful.
One should understand at this point that humanity is on the decline, and that this is a desirable situation. As a species we will continue to evolve, no limit exists to this variable. One should identify the evolved and perfected species as one without moral obligations and needless social attachments; if this is accepted, we will be able to progress at a greater rate.
