A portion of a Eurogamer review...

...its old-fashioned mentality won me over: while other sims can seem to favour a rather coldly analytical approach to management, here you feel as much a fan as a manager, cheering your team on from the sidelines. It might take away much of what makes a truly authentic sim, but in doing so it gives back plenty besides.

Coming from a GameSpot interview with Nintendo's Bill Trinen...

Why the original DS title never got localized.

"With the original DS version we looked very hard at potentially trying to bring it over to the US. We've had Mii characters for a while and you've been able to create and play as a Mii character within a game, but typically their actions and what they do in that game has really been limited to some physical motions, they've never really had their own personality or their own voice.

In Tomodachi Life, a very key component of the game, and what's really important to you as a player in terms of building that connection with these Mii versions of your friends and family, is that they have their own personality. Each individual character has a voice that you can customize, and they'll actually speak. That's done through a voice generation library on the software. We weren't able to do that on the DS in the US. It's much easier to do in Japanese because Japanese is a phonetic-based language; English is much more difficult.

So part of the reason that it didn't come out on DS, and part of the reason that it's taken a long time for us to release on 3DS here in North America has been all the work that's put into creating this library to handle English and the other languages and to get it to work well in a way that helps you connect to those characters and helps bring their personalities to life."

On blocking vulgar language

"There's a universal list that exists at Nintendo that will prevent you from using those types of words in a character name or something. In Tomodachi Life, there are probably fewer restrictions this time because we didn't want to block people out from using their actual names. But it's more of a development side library that they have, rather than something that the localization team actually does."

Please tell me Greninja being in the new Smash Bros does not mean we lose StarFox. Pretty, pretty please.

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

For the record, it's the only announcement video I've watched cause I want a few surprises, but the moves were similar so I got worried ha

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Greninja looks like similar move design and speed to Sheik and Fox in the trailer. Minus the water fountain hands... Those it can keep.

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Stop telling me to watch it! I don't wanna, haha. Been waiting for this game for YEARS. I want ALL the surprises ;) but thanks for the info!

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Eh, never loved him to be honest. Won't miss the constant 'Falcon Punch!' RT @ChrisSmithster: it's Captain Falcon who won't make the cut :(

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Yah, except my girls are separate now ! :( Oh well RT @down_of_brain: Sheik stays as well in case you were worried

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Zelda/Sheik, but Fox is in the favorites roster :) RT @Rew_SC: I hope this tweet means you're a fellow Fox mainer. =D

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Both. Home and travel covered! RT @StuffFromJordan: are you going 3DS or Wii U?

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

The Portal 2 bot buddies to replace Ice Climbers? Ha #NotNintendo RT @CarowsThePerson: is there anyone you'd want to see as a new character?

— Zelda Williams (@zeldawilliams) April 11, 2014

Okami would be interesting if you got to draw fight... RT @ChipLikesIt: is there a dream character you'd love to see introduced in Smash?

So many have you have requested this addition to the campaign for Earthlock and we did some research with logistics to make it happen. It took us a while to find the right place to produce them at a reasonable cost. The Physical Artbook will be a $40 add-on – 64 pages of glorious art of Earthlock! You will need to add $7 for US shipping and $12 for international shipping.

Remember back when we reported on Tomodachi Collection getting a patch that 'corrected' the 'mistake' of same-sex marriages? Nintendo has now fully explained why the patch was released, and it seems it has nothing to do with same-sex relationships.

"Two developments occurred that led to some misunderstanding about this. First, as a result of a mistake in comprehension of Japanese, some people misinterpreted Japanese reports and fan activity and thought same-sex relationships were possible. This occurred because they saw Japanese fans posting game screenshots of male and female Mii characters, where female Mii characters were designed and clothed in such a way that they looked male. Since these explanations were made in Japanese by the Japanese fans who posted the images, the Japanese people do not have such a misunderstanding.

Second, a critical bug occurred in the original Japanese version of the game which made it impossible for the player to continue the game. When Mii characters were imported from a Wii console, or the previous game in the Tomodachi Collection series on Nintendo DS (which was only released in Japan), into the Nintendo 3DS version, it could lead to scrambled Mii data within the Nintendo 3DS version. This could result in different Miis being randomly assigned to existing in-game relationships, such as already married Mii, or as just one other example, giving the appearance of same-sex relations. Because this bug caused the inability for the player to save the game data and continue the game, we released a patch."

Wondering whether Nintendo will include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life? When asked, Nintendo said, "Same-sex relationships were not possible in the original software." That doesn't really answer the question, does it?!

Turtle Tale for Wii U is progressing well. No promises, but the end of the month feels like a reasonable target for submitting to lot check.
