I saw this movie yesterday and I must say that it was SPECTACULAR. The special effects, mainly the motion capture, were stunning. I couldn't tell what was real and what was CGI. The movie played out very well and set the mood EXTREMELY well. The only thing I didn't like is that they made most of the humans into total douchbags. My favorite scene is the one above were Caesar speaks for the first time. This movie also ties up most of the loose ends in the series as to what happened to all the humans, how the apes gained super intelligence, and what happened to the astronauts from the first movie. I won't spoil too much, but I will say you have to keep your eyes open and stay alert because alot of the explanations are very subtle. As to the progression of this movie it does what most recent movies don't, IT TAKES IT'S DAMN TIME. Unlike every movie I have seen in recent years I am not disappointed with the ending, because it is thought out and isn't rushed into the last few minutes of the movie.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see something really good this summer.

THAT BOBZ GUY

summer died though

also humans are total douchebags

Read the review at the link I just gave you. Go ahead, I'll wait.

I doubt I've ever read a more stupid critique in my life. I mean, what the hell? I could understand giving the film an incredibly low one star if he, you know, actually explained how the film was bad based on its artistic merits. That's what critics are supposed to do, right? Good critics, that is. Provide an objective-as-possible take on a movie, considering the quality of its acting, script, cinematography, and other important qualities.

Ebert didn't do this. Instead, he wrote a mindless  rant on how the movie is supposedly "immoral."

First off, newsflash, Mr. Ebert: it's a movie. If you can be offended by pure fantasy such as this, then you're an egotistical moron who's obsessed with upholding a moral code that has essentially become meaningless.

Secondly, there's a certain amount of hypocrisy at work here. Roger Ebert has actually worked on films in the past that could be considered "immoral" in the same way this film is. Also, why doesn't he complain about Tarantino? Tarantino directs all sorts of films with over-the-top violence treated in silly ways.

Is it because "oh, it's a cute little girl, she shouldn't be doing those things?" No. That's a stupid argument. Grown adults shouldn't be doing those things either. By using that argument you're essentially arguing, "well, it's not okay for little girls to kill people, but I have no problem with grown men killing other grown men! Da-derp-da-derpity-dumb."

Jesus Christ, this guy's going senile, I swear to God. He'll trash anything he deems too "immoral" for his pompous tastes and like shit like the Garfield movie just because it's "family friendly."

How the *crag* was that even a review, he just rambled on about unrelated shit.

Some things work better in Comic Books than in Movies, but at least the Nolan Batman films were able to incorporate most of Batman's key characteristics

The film is *crag*ing amazing, and it is a true milestone in the history of film. It will be remembered for decades.

With that said, yeah, the plot isn't exactly original; if someone were to call it a cross between Dances with Wolves and Ferngully in space, well, they would be right. However, the film makes up for its large amount of borrowed ideas by presenting them in a highly polished, relatively original, and definitely sophisticated way.

The film will be remembered for how much of an achievement in terms of special effects and animation it was for its time. This is probably the first film with extensive motion-capture animation that I've seen to look believable; the characters, scenery, and overall atmosphere create a compelling world and a truly unforgettable experience.

So, while it is somewhat weak in terms of the actual basis for the narrative (The presentation of the narrative certainly isn't, of course), that is a minor qualm when its absolutely wonderous atmosphere is taken in to account.

So it's like Transformers 2 except they didn't *crag* up the explosions?

This film evokes feelings similar to the wonderment in Jurassic Park and the epicness (not a word, but should be) of Lord of the Rings.

Finally CGI that doesn't make you think "oh, that part is CGI".  The world is believable... it sucks you in and never spits you back out.

The story drags a litlte at first and the plot is far from life changing, but it holds your attention the entire 2 hours and 40 minutes by bouncing between the two sides with well developed characters (and being facinated with seeing even the most trivial stuff in 3D).

This was my first 3D movie, and although it was a great experience (this film is perfect for IMAX and 3D due to the sweeping landscape shots and sky-high locales), 3D technology still has a ways to go before it becomes ubiquitous.  Took about half the movie for me to adjust to it.

Great cinemtography in the high action scenes.  Lots of stuff going on but I never felt overwhelemd or lost.  Good use of slow-mo helps.

In conclusion, I give it a 4/5.  Though the story is kinda shallow, the experience is an amazing one worthy of all the hype.

My dad suggested to watch Avatar. I guess I'll watch it for the 3-D Experience.

Saw it the other week, I found it really good. Now my mate who hasn't seen it yet has invited my family to see it again on wednesday.
