...yeah, but is the Earth worth taking back after the reapers are done with it? In case you missed it last night during The Walking Dead, here's the trailer for Mass Effect 3, revealing that we're going to need all the Commander Shepards the galaxy can spare to save our little rock.

If they manage to indoctrinate our sunflowers, it's all over.

EA is sending early copies of Mass Effect 3 into space...

Razer is releasing a series of Mass Effect 3-branded peripherals, and you'd better believe every single thing in the product line comes with DLC codes. The wares include N7-themed versions of the BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard, the Imperator mouse, the Onza Tournament Edition 360 controller, the Chimera 360 headset and the Vespula mousepad. There's also an iPhone 4(S) case and messenger bag available to "protect and safeguard peripherals and gadgets from the intensity of the intergalactic warfare in Mass Effect 3."

Available for pre-order now and shipping sometime in March, each piece of kit comes with a code for a "Collector Assault Rifle" and "multiplayer content packs," although the contents of those content packs remain a mystery. We don't know about you guys, but playing a video game has never caused our cell phone to spontaneously suffer extensive physical abuse.

You guys know about Mass Effect 3, right? EA really wants you to know that Mass Effect 3 exists. Like, so bad. The publisher's fervor for raising awareness about ME3 is so great that it's strapping six copies of the game to six high-altitude weather balloons spread across the globe, and launching them into the literal stratosphere, which is effectively space when spoken in the same sentence as "balloons" and "video games."

Paris, London, Berlin, New York, San Francisco and Las Vegas will all play host to one of these advertising airships, which are set to launch next week. Eventually though, these puppies are coming back down.

Each copy of the game is equipped with a GPS tracking device, and crazy people will be able to monitor the games' positions on the official Mass Effect website. Once they land, whoever scrambles to a crash site first will get to keep the copy and play the game a week early, assuming the damn thing is still somehow intact. Here's hoping that the balloons are just as involved in the descent as they are in the flight, but just to be safe we're going to calculate the terminal velocity of a 360 case and call our insurance company.

Even if you think Kotobukiya's "Bishoujo" Liara T'soni figure is an ... unusual interpretation of the Mass Effect character (it used to be even more "interpreted!"), you may end up wanting one of the figures. Why? Same reason you may be interested in the artbook, or the other action figures: exclusive DLC.

A Kotobukiya rep told Tomopop that the Liara figure would pack some exclusive DLC for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Mass Effect 3. There's no word on what that DLC is yet, but if you already know you want it, you can pre-order the toy for $60. It ships in July.

If you're an Xbox 360 owner, you can snag the Mass Effect 3 demo now -- PC and PS3 players will have to wait a bit later in the day to grab Bioware's early taste of the Reaper invasion of Earth. The demo features a mission from the invasion and another later in the game. The demo also supports Kinect voice recognition.

Additionally, a new live-action trailer is set to premiere during this week's episode of The Walking Dead on AMC. A teaser trailer for the commercial can be seen above.

Hello everyone! Mass Effect 3’s new demo is launching later today on the PlayStation Network. Voted “Most Anticipated Game of 2012” at the Spike Video Game Awards, Mass Effect 3 plunges you into the boots of Commander Shepard, a decorated marine and war hero, as players lead the charge in an all-out galactic war against a nearly unstoppable foe.

Today marks the arrival of our single-player demo for the PS3, giving you a taste of what to expect when Commander Shepard takes Earth back on March 6th. When you download and play the demo, you’ll see that how you fight the war is entirely up to you. Choose your appearance and pick from a variety of specialized combat classes, each with unique and devastating abilities. As you progress in this war, you’ll choose which abilities to specialize in, which weapons to bring into battle, and which characters will join you in combat.

There’s more to this demo, though – starting on February 17th, PS3 owners will be able to play multiplayer for the first time in the Mass Effect universe! As a special bonus, Battlefield 3 owners who have redeemed an online pass on the PlayStation Network will get early access to the multiplayer demo starting today, February 14.

Decent length levels (the second level is an extended version of the one I played at Eurogamer) plus a full multiplayer section (I don't get it for three days but my brother has it despite not getting the access key from BF3) makes for an entertaining demo.

I'm definitely looking forward to the full game.
