Want to torture a tiny, raving Rabbid or make some sweet jumps in an itty-bitty monster truck? Ubisoft has got you covered. For the next 48 hours (give or take, at the time of this writing), you can snag Rabbids Go HD (iPad) or MotoHeroz for the iPhone for free. Also, as noted by VG247, Rabbids Go Phone Again (iPhone) and MotoHeroz HD (iPad) are currently free as well.

If that's not enough, you can also smite the unworthy on the cheap, as Babel Rising 3D (iPhone/iPad) is on sale for $0.99.

If there's a serious dearth of racers on your iDevice, RedLynx is looking to fill that void with a free download of MotoHeroz. Originally debuting on WiiWare, this game is - well, it's basically Trials. If you haven't heard of Trials, then you really need to start reading our site more.

In short, MotoHeroz is a physics-based side-scrolling racer with platforming elements and a really depressing leaderboard where your friends show you how much better they are at the game. MotoHeroz is free to download on all iOS devices running version 4.1 or greater.

Pain junkies can get a quick fix of MotoHeroz methadone, but it will only tide them over until the next hit of Trials heroin shows up.

Buy MotoHeroz, by all means - it's cheerful and fun while it lasts, with some levels that compare with the developer's very finest work. But in the context of what else is out there, and more importantly by RedLynx's own very high standards, this is, at best, above average.

Trials HD developer RedLynx released MotoHeroz on WiiWare in North America last week. As a multiplayer, party-focused iteration on the exacting Trials gameplay -- and as a major WiiWare release in 2011 -- it's an odd game. In the interest of understanding it a bit better, I spoke to lead designer Antti Ilvessuo in an email interview.

MotoHeroz is actually the second game in a "Heroz" series. RedLynx released an even weirder game, the foot-racer 1000 Heroz for iOS, this year, and the new WiiWare game ties into it. "Both MotoHeroz and our iOS game 1000 Heroz take place in the same shared universe, the world of Gema," Ilvessuo said. "In this world, differences are settled not with battles but with games, and politicians must get to the top of their Leaderboards to get elected." The characters are purportedly unworthy of the designation "heroes," thus the near-miss appellation "Heroz." You can even collect "Ancestor Spirits" in MotoHeroz who hail from the prehistoric cast of the iPhone game.

MotoHeroz costs 1500 points ($15) and it’s well worth the price for a game that ends up more enjoyable than most disc game releases and with potentially as many hours of play time -- not to mention that's only taking the single player into account.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review...

Maximising its use of the Wii hardware in key areas and reigning it back where it's not needed, MotoHeroz flourishes in every aspect: it looks great, plays superbly and makes you want to return to it time and time again. Had this been released on disc at full price, it would be a strong recommendation. Even at the premium price of 1500 Nintendo Points, it's unmissable.

MotoHeroz is an extremely addictive title that is very hard to put down. Its stages are challenging, but they will never get you frustrated to turn off your Wii. RedLynx has built in a lot of content that should make this title worth playing for a long time. Anyone who enjoyed Trials HD, likes a good challenge, or desires a unique local multiplayer affair should definitely look into picking up MotoHeroz.

From the makers of 2009's insane motorcycle-flipping spectacle Trials HD comes even more insanity, only this time we're flipping four-wheeled buggies instead of two-wheeled bikes. MotoHeroz is a crazy, kooky-looking, physics-based, half-racing/half-platforming blast of a game -- the kind of follow-up that would feel perfectly positioned on Xbox Live Arcade right alongside its spiritual predecessor. The thing is, this one's only available on Wii...

RedLynx flips out onto WiiWare with its long-awaited party stunt game, MotoHeroz. It's the sole WiiWare release for the week, and the anchor of a week that is similarly light across all Nintendo platforms.

The single eShop release is also pretty cool: Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge. We've been waiting for another chance to buy this, ever since the GBA collection was canceled years ago.

RedLynx's weirdest stunt racing game, MotoHeroz, has finally been dated. The WiiWare-exclusive, exaggerated truck racer will allow you to race trucks on the moon next Thursday, September 15, for $15. It'll be a simultaneous European and American release.

The new trailer, above, shows you just what the game is about, including the aforementioned lunar truckin'. There's a variety of flip-friendly vehicles and outrageous, looping (and loopy) tracks, playable in single-player and local multiplayer. In addition, daily challenges will be available online.

Though much of our attention is on full retail releases like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, every so often a WiiWare game looks too captivating to ignore. MotoHeroz, from RedLynx (the makers of the XBLA game Trials HD), is one of those titles. We now know when the game will be available for download -- next Thursday, September 15...

- RedLynx is creating 50 levels that they can upload to players - levels will come a few at a time - each level is about 20KB in size - these will be transmitted simultaneously to all owners of the game as an immediate score-based challenge - challenges will run for 12-24 hours, - that’s when those levels are yanked [...]

RedLynx's WiiWare racer MotoHeroz might as well be two separate games. In single player, it's a Trials-esque stunt racer with a cartoon style and bizarre, looping, interactive levels. And in multiplayer, it's Smash Bros. with trucks. Both modes use the same physics-based movement -- in fact, it's the physics that make multiplayer so wild.

Ever since Trials HD for XBLA took out a multi-year lease in our hearts, RedLynx has held a bit of a trump card with us. The developer's newest game, MotoHeroz, looks to extend that lease, bringing four-wheelers to the world of 2D racing. Gameplay-wise, MotoHeroz is a mix of Joe Danger's platforming gameplay and Motocross Maniacs' nitro-boosted, loop-based 2D -- as stated in the game's initial announcement, new online maps will be added daily to the WiiWare title.

In addition to today's first gameplay trailer, RedLynx announced that Alan Wake music composer Petri Alanko is handling compositions for MotoHeroz. The first track from Alanko can be heard in the trailer we've dropped after the break, and if you find yourself dancing along, a free download is available right here.
