#lookatthis Activision picked a rather awkward game to help remind players that Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 8. I guess they are trying to say make your mother happy this Sunday, or consume her later and experience her disappointment first-hand. More »

The Prototype 2 trailer after the break helps explain why Prototype 1 protagonist Alex Mercer is the bad guy in this sequel ... but we don't think it needs all that much justification. He was always a mass-murdering monster; he just happened to be the monster in the player's control before. It's like Godzilla movies -- sometimes he's the bad guy, and sometimes another monster will be tearing up Tokyo and Godzilla becomes the hero by default.

After the narrative discussion, the trailer treats us to a little footage labeled "Pre-alpha." Luckily, Activision remembered to use that term instead of "Prototype," because that would be so confusing.

Well, maybe he's not a corpse yet, but... well, you'll see.

But that’s isn’t stopping Radical from releasing comedy death trailers like the one I’ve posted below. Again, it doesn’t show much more than a brief clip of the game, but at least it’s slowed down so that you can enjoy the passing scenery as a random dude is tumbled to his explosive end. (Via Blues.) Prototype 2 is still far away from the production line (see what we did there?), but Activision is teasing next year's sequel with a trailer providing some lovely flyover shots of an in-game environment. Well, not so lovely for the guy doing the flying.

#video Prototype 2 isn't due out until sometime in 2012, so early video of Radical Entertainment's game can easily be forgiven for being light on substance. If you're looking forward to next year's Prototype sequel or simply enjoy video game trailers featuring harpsichord, give this one—"Heller Throws Down"—some eyeball time. More »

Oh yes, while I am stealing videos from Blues‘ YouTube channel, we should probably link to the latest Prototype 2 teaser. It looks like Prototype! Only it is introduced by Penny Arcade for some reason? I am missing something here, aren’t I? The game isn’t out until 2012, so don’t hold your breath. I mean if you do hold your breath and you are still alive by 2012, then OKAY, because that would be some feat. (more…)
