Retailers are selling the 3DS for $250, but that's not all markup -- there are marketing, research and other charges associated with a console release, and everyone in the supply chain has to take their own cuts, of course. Still, Nintendo is likely making a profit on every unit sold, which is exactly as expected (and what it did with the Wii). Even before you start talking about games and licensing, Nintendo is making sure there's some money rolling back its way from day one.

In addition, that same selection of 3DS software comes with a $10 credit toward a second 3DS game. We would be very surprised if the credits stacked, so don't expect an aggregate $35 bonus on your 3DS and game order. But in any case, money is saved!

Just because a logo for a service called "3DSWare" showed up on the official Nintendo Greece website, it's no indication that such a service exists. At least, that's what Nintendo told VG247. The company said that a "technical issue" accidentally made public a "temporary logo" put together by Nintendo's Greek distributor.
"This logo is in no way related to any unannounced services or features for Nintendo 3DS," said Nintendo, "and was simply a placeholder used whilst the website underwent construction work and has since been removed."
Which means we're back to there not being a known download service for new 3DS games -- in other words, the 3DS download service is a step back from the DSi. Why is Nintendo working so hard not to announce this, again?

Previously, the name '3DSWare' had been trademarked by Nintendo, though it has never been officially mentioned by the company. In fact, earlier this month,

Though the list of upcoming titles for the Nintendo 3DS appears all-inclusive of the industry's many genres, we can't help but notice a few vital deficiencies. Take, for instance, the touch-and-tilt-based mystery-adventure genre -- where's that on the list? It's not there yet, but Capcom is looking to rectify that oversight with Nazo Waku Yakata, a game spearheaded by Resident Evil: Deadly Silence director Minoru Nakai and Okamiden scenario writer Yukinori Kitajama.
According to Siliconera, the game is a point-and-click adventure reminiscent of Acclaim's 1995 3DO adventure title D. It's set in a creepy mansion, where players can look around rooms using the 3DS' gyro sensor and interact with objects using the touch screen. Players can also talk to characters using the microphone, ensuring you won't be able to play it in public without risking great humiliation. It's due out in Japan this summer -- we've got our fingers crossed for a speedy localization.
