As part of its pre-TGS blitz, Nintendo has revealed that the DSiWare and 3DS download of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures will be available beginning September 28. The download will be free to all DSi, DSi XL and 3DS owners until February 20, 2012. The "Anniversary Edition" of the game will feature a new single-player mode, while the "all multiplayer game play is handled wirelessly."

Nintendo has announced that Capcom is developing Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS. A brief trailer shown during Nintendo's pre-TGS keynote gave us a glimpse at the titular hunter of monsters scaling cliffs and running from a giant dragon, which he eventually faced ... only for the trailer to cut away to the title logo. Sneaky teaser trailer, sis!

You're a dude, totally comfortable with your masculinity -- well, don't even think about buying this new 3DS, because it's not for you. Unless you live in Japan, in which case we can't really stop you from buying one.

Because Nintendo's 3DS user base is mostly male, the company is hoping this new pink model will generate some interest among the fairer sex, along with some planned new games content such as a sequel to Tomodachi Collection and another Girls Mode title (known here in the States as Style Savvy). Iwata announced that the "Misty Pink" 3DS will launch in Japan on October 20.

We mentioned yesterday that, according to the NPD, the 3DS had sold 185,000 units between its August 12 price cut and month's end. But here's a little added perspective: Nintendo says that number is a 260 percent increase over the comparable time period in July. That means that between July 12 and 30 (the end of NPD's "July" sales period), just around 71,150 3DS systems left store shelves.

Now, it's not a perfect comparison obviously, just but just to give you some idea of how bad that actually is, here are a few other Julys and 2/3 of their total DS sales for the month.

• July 2010 - 226K
• July 2009 - 355K
• July 2008 - 401K
• July 2007 - 267K

185,000 is still a good bit lower than the 226,000 DS units Nintendo sold in 2/3 of August 2010, but at least things are moving in the right direction.

The latest Rollercoaster Tycoon game will let you manage an amusement park, build the craziest coaster you can imagine, and then get super sick while riding it virtually. That's because it's for 3DS, and thus has the ability to immerse you in a stereoscopic 3D roller coaster experience.

Developed by n-Space, the 3DS version of the classic PC franchise includes Coaster Creator as well as a "compressed" form of the traditional amusement park operation simulation. The "Coaster Story" mode delivers a series of park challenges as part of a storyline. "Park Sandbox" allows you to just build the park however you want, and share your creations with the system's "advanced networking capabilities." StreetPass park trading, perhaps?

Last night, we reported on rumors of a wacky 3DS circle pad attachment coming from Nintendo. They're rumors no more, as a picture of the leaked Famitsu article revealing the "SECRET SCOOP" has surfaced.

There it is, in all its glory. Say goodbye to any aspirations of pocketing your 3DS if you get one of these. It is, of course, perfect for Monster Hunter Tri G, as it adds three additional shoulder buttons along with that second stick. As Capcom and Nintendo proved with the Classic Controller Pro, Monster Hunter players demand nothing less than a simulacrum of the PS2/PS3 controller. And this should probably turn out to be ... not terribly uncomfortable for playing that game. At home.

Oh, we just realized -- this adds a new 3D feature to the system. If you look at both circle pads and position your eyes just right, you should see one circle pad floating above the 3DS.

Remember that weird analog stick attachment rumored to be coming for 3DS? Well, we have some more evidence of its existence. Japanese blogs including Hachima and Game no Hanashi are reporting that the latest issue of Famitsu confirms the attachment, which sticks onto the right side of the console somehow.

These reports are unconfirmed, and there are no scans yet, but we hope you'll allow us a pre-emptive "whaaaaaaaaat?"

Why would the 3DS need a second analog stick/circle pad? The same reason the Wii needed a new version of the Classic Controller: Monster Hunter. The same sources report that an updated version of Monster Hunter Tri will be released this year, called Monster Hunter Tri G. The 3DS version is said to feature, at least, local wireless play. The existence of this game is also unconfirmed, but these two rumors kind of lend credence to one another. We'll let you know when/if we hear something official, at which point we'll probably be flabbergasted again.
