#3ds Late last week, respected Japanese newspaper Nikkei (and seemingly Nintendo's nemesis of late) reported that the Kyoto-based game maker would be launching the 3DS in South Korea next month. That launch would be followed by a release in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. More »

Activision is bringing Transformers Prime games to Nintendo platforms later this year, based on the kids' TV series of the same name. Transformers Prime is being developed by Now Production for the 3DS and Wii.

Described as a "brawler" with "diverse driving sequences," Transformers Prime will allow players to take control of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet and Bulkhead. Check out the debut trailer above.

Activision's announced that they're going back to the Energon well one more time with the just-revealed Transformers Prime title. The game—available exclusively for the Nintendo DS and 3DS—ties into the popular animated series currently running on The Hub cable channel. More »

With February's NPD numbers upon us, Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2 has joined a prestigious club. The portly plumber's Wii title has now crossed the 5 million sales mark. Nintendo notes that the Wii has now amassed nine titles that have passed 5 million in sales, which it says is "nearly twice as many 5-million sellers as competing current-generation consoles combined." The company added that Just Dance 3 is quickly approaching the 5 million mark, with 4.61 million copies sold to date.

On the handheld front, two other Mario titles, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, both moved more than 100,000 units. In addition, Nintendo notes that Pokemon Black and White have surpassed 4 million units in combined sales.

In hardware, Nintendo sold 228,000 Wii consoles, 262,000 3DS units and 135,000 DS units.

Level-5, developer of Professor Layton, Dark Cloud, Ni no Kuni and more, is moving further toward establishing publishing operations in North America. The ESA -- the video game publishers' lobbying group -- announced today that Level-5 has joined its ranks. Ergo, Level-5 is becoming a North American video game publisher. That helps explain what the new Level-5 International America office is up to.

Level-5's publishing operations, whatever they are, will likely begin after the winter release of Ni no Kuni -- as Namco Bandai is handling that.

Other new ESA members include digital publisher Little Orbit, who has the license for DC's Young Justice, and digital publisher Rubicon Organization.

Today, Nintendo revealed that the 3DS sold 4.5 million units in its first year on sale in the U.S. The Nintendo DS, a huge success, sold 2.3 million in its first year. More »

Atlus has officially confirmed that Etrian Odyssey IV is on its way to the Nintendo 3DS in Japan later this year. The fourth in the series of popular RPGs (Etrian Odyssey 3 arrived in North America last year) will have an easier casual difficulty setting, and will boast seven different classes, including Rune Masters, Medics, Snipers, Swordsmen, Fortress units, and Dancers.

Art for the game is being provided by Nizo Yamamoto (one of the artists on Princess Mononoke). Etrian Odyssey veterans Yuji Himukai, Shin Nagasawa, and Yuzu Koshiro are also on board. Daisuke Kaneda, taking reins as game director, served as battle advisor on the original game and directed Trauma Team.

Atlus says the game will be out in Japan on July 5. Since older Etrian Odysseys have eventually found their way over to North America, there's a chance we'll see this one here too.
