Sonic's rivals make their arrivals in Sonic Generations trailer

The latest Sonic Generations trailer approaches the danger zone for a Sonic game -- it focuses on characters other than Sonic. But since it's all bosses and rivals instead of Sonic's infamous cadre of support characters, we can forgive the use of non-Sonic characters.

Besides, this trailer somehow manages to make Shadow the Hedgehog and even Silver the Hedgehog seem cool and a little menacing. Even the chubby, Genesis-era version of Metal Sonic comes off as pretty cool. Good job, Sega trailer editor!

Sonic Generations Steams Onto PC

SEGA Blog trumpets the news that Sonic Generations will arrive on PC in November. SEGA explain: “Sonic Generations for PC digital includes Steamworks features such as Steam Cloud, which allows save files to be stored on Steam’s servers so you can resume your game progress from any PC. As with the other console platforms, Sonic Generations will be available to play in full stereoscopic 3D and will contain Achievements and online leaderboards. The PC version will also support resolutions up to 1080p.”

It will be out November 1st in North America and November 4th in Europe. And that’s a staggered release that can’t have anything to do with retail, because it claims that the boxed versions will out later in the month. Hmm.

On November 4th, just a few days after the console versions, Sonic Generations will release for PC. According to Eurogamer, who confirmed the story with SEGA after Destructoid found the game listing on an online retailer, it will be available from all of the publisher's "digital partners." Steam customers will have Steam Cloud support and, like the console versions, the PC version will also support stereoscopic 3D...

Sonic Generations is just a few short weeks away. And while we want to talk all about it, we figure it's probably best for you to experience it yourself. So we boiled down the preview to the few key things that really stuck out; the features that melted the huge layer of ice around our Genesis kid hearts, long since frozen by games like Sonic and the Black Knight. This is why we're excited Sonic is back (again)...

Sonic Generations trailer reaches the 'modern' era (of werewolves and girlfriends)

How confident is Sega in Sonic Generations? Well, the company's willing to build in a piece -- and thus, a reminder -- of 2006's Sonic the Hedgehog. We hope the loading times aren't carrying over alongside that game's "Crisis City" level.

Sonic Generations - No werehog, no Jaleel White

Here's two interesting bits of information on Sonic Generations. One is great to hear, and the other is...surprising.

- There will be no werehog version of Sonic in Sonic Generations
- Classic Sonic remains mute because SEGA couldn't get Jaleel White to reprise his role

Now wait a damn minute. SEGA couldn't manage to strike a deal with Jaleel White, the same Jaleel White that is voicing Sonic in a fan-made project? How in the hell does that work?!

Sonic Generations trailer introduces the Dreamcast generation

The latest Sonic Generations trailer is targeted at a specific kind of nostalgia: for the era in which you were running past killer whales in sunny skies -- when you were flying around at the speed of sound, and following your rainbow.

And, in keeping with the Dreamcast-era theme of the trailer, our old pal Shadow the Hedgehog makes a dramatic entrance at the end of the thing, with no hint of the cars or guns of his later solo outing. He's in the game as a "rival," so he won't be playable.
