Indie developer Luca Redwood announced that he's working on a follow-up to his tile-matching, dungeon-crawling puzzler 10000000, and plans to offer the sequel for free to anyone who purchased the original game.

You Must Build A Boat expands on 10000000's addictive structure with new playable locations, recruitable party members, and tile upgrades that award bonuses for successful matches. Players who purchased 10000000 on Steam will automatically receive a copy of You Must Build A Boat upon its release, and Redwood is weighing his options for a similar upgrade program on iOS and Android platforms.

Redwood is currently offering a multiplatform version of 10000000 at a discounted rate of $1.50 via the Humble Store. Purchases via the Humble Widget include a Steam key, along with DRM-free copies of the game for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android devices. Ikaruga, the dual-tone GameCube shmup from Japanese developer Treasure, is hitting Steam with a few tweaks and tune-ups, including Double Play Mode and game screen rotation. Double Play Mode allows the player to control two ships with one gamepad, which sounds absolutely bananas. Screen rotation puts the game on a horizontal axis, like a side-scrolling shooter.

Ikaruga on Steam will use the Steam Cloud, achievements and leaderboards, and supports screen resolutions up to 1920x1080 and 1920x1200. Ikaruga made it through Steam Greenlight last year and it's now under final debugging. "Won't be long before you can play it," Treasure says on its Steam page. [Image: Treasure]

Valve's Steam Music beta will arrive soon for SteamOS users. The service is a new addition to the platform just announced last week, enabling players to listen to local music files from within the Steam client while playing games. To enter the closed beta, fans will need to join the Steam Music community in hopes of being randomly selected. Valve says beta testers will be "invited in waves" until the feature goes live in full for all players/listeners.

The company announced SteamOS in September along with its upcoming Steam Machines and Steam Controller hardware. In mid-January, Valve revealed its ambitions to provide music and video services before launching Steam Machines. We went hands-on with the beta version of the hardware last month and were intrigued by it, even if the Steam Machines term is "nonsense." [Image: Valve]

Thanks to the onslaught of cost-effective game bundles courtesy of the folks at Indie Royale, Humble Bundle and Bundle Stars, players have plenty of options to pass the time at a low price. Blink Bundle is now entering that space by appeasing game developers interested in adding their games to discounted collections: CEO Jim Yildirim told Joystiq via email that Blink offers the "highest dev cut out of any of the major bundles."

Blink Bundle is currently offering a "Something for Everyone Bundle," which includes Steam games Gnomoria, Sideway New York, Archon Classic and Light of Altair in addition to an as-yet-unknown bonus game for a minimum payment of $1.99. Those that pay $4.99 or more for the bundle also receive Blockland, Eldritch, Lilly Looking Through, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Influx and Hero of the Kingdom, as well as another unnamed bonus game. The PC master race could only resemble Madagascar for so long - Plague Inc's supervirus of fun is coming for all of you on February 20, but the mutation that takes you down will be called Plague Inc: Evolved. Mac and Linux players are targets for Evolved as well, but they'll be reached "as soon as possible" after the PC infection via Steam.

Evolved will add multiplayer, allowing you to work with friends to find a cure or race to humanity's extinction. Your creative liberties can influence more than just a disease's name this time, too - players will be able to create new plague types and share their masterpieces via Steam Workshop. You'll also be able to watch your handiwork take its toll from a street view as well as an individual organ perspective ... you know, for science.
