The Steam Holiday Sale is on now through Sunday, January 1, 2012. In addition to huge savings throughout the store, the 2011 sale features two special promotions that allow you to win like never before.

The Great Gift Pile challenges gamers to complete up to six objectives each day. Completion of each objective grants the chance to win a free game or discount coupons for select games available on Steam. If you dont win, no worries, youll be given a piece of coal. But hold onto that coal!

Why?

Coal is the ticket to enter the Epic Holiday Giveaway. Its called Epic because the top prize is every game on Steam. The more coal you have, the better your chance of winning. Players may alternatively choose to magically mix their coal into something shiny and new by crafting seven pieces into a gift from the Great Gift Pile. So this year receiving coal is a good thing.

Updates to Worms Reloaded have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

As a thank you to all of our loyal fans weve added some great new content to Worms Reloaded. The update includes two classic weapons from previous Worms games, the Old Woman and Longbow, as well as a new landscape theme, Britannia, which was recently featured in Worms Crazy Golf. - Corrected a bug that was causing eliminated Civs to not generate notifications correctly.
- Changed notification language for when a Research or Trade deal is cancelled due to the AI running out of funds to pay for it (per-turn deal), or are eliminated. It was currently displaying a because of war notification which is incorrect.
- Corrected an issue that could cause unhappiness from city count and number of specialists to become incorrect over the course of a long game.
- Changed Frigate obsolete tech to Combustion.
- Fixed Korean science building exploit.
- Fixed a problem with City Strike that gave the user the impression that they could not end their turn, when in reality, city strike was still active.
- Crash: Fixed a crash that could occur in hot-seat when exiting to the main menu.
- Crash: Fixed a crash that could occur when a unit was eliminated by standing too close to a Citadel.

Realtime Worlds' MMO APB has had a troubled past to say the least, getting shut down in record time after a disastrous launch. But the title was purchased by GamersFirst soon after that with the intention of being reopened as a free-to-play game called APB Reloaded, and it looks like things are going pretty well. Not only has the title appeared in Steam's most played charts already, but GamersFirst now says it has picked up three million new registered users after showing up on the Steam service.

That's quite a turnaround. The original game only boasted about 130,000 registered players, so the current iteration has already picked up that original audience and more. GamersFirst says the game has "quickly amassed a vocal, dedicated community, and they've been instrumental in growing the game and helping better the experience."

And then there's the ultimate rebirth: APB Reloaded is apparently headed back to store shelves at retailers, too, in the form of a $29.99 box with "more than $50 worth of value including unique in-game items." That's pretty impressive for a game that saw a server shutdown in just 90 days or so.

CrimeCraft GangWars Update Released

Snow Brawl game mode added for a limited time during the holidays! Trade in your guns for a new weapon, a snowball packed tightly around a core of high explosives! Snowballs explode on contact, killing all enemies! For all Snow Brawl matches, weapons, abilities, boosts and knives are disabled and players will only have 60 hit points. Snow Brawl kicks off Dec. 19 and the map and mode will change each day of the event.

Other Updates:
• Fixed the bug where territory bonuses didnt work after travelling between lobbies.
• Improved the groups processing logic in the matchmaking.
• Minimum number of players increased from 2 to 4 for Snatch and Grab and Capture the Zone (3 points) game modes in Maxym Alley and Belly Street.
• Fixed the bug when the stack size wasnt shown correctly on Black Market.
• Fixed the issue when players were able to equip premium signatures they didnt buy.
• Fixed the Hammer of Thor Granade Launcher stats. Now it stays in line with other R-Sys Sabretooth GLs.
• Fixed the Tank, Thunder and Quake Gear Packs - now they correctly decrease the taken melee damage.
• Fixed the bug with the wrong amount of gained experience in chat after completing job or mission.
• Fixed the bug with the Terminator class the ability AUG now have correct description and effect.
• Fixed the bug with the Pyrotech class now it has correct level of Betadyne Amplifex boost levels for highest ranks of the class.

Satazius is Now Available on Steam!

SATAZIUS is an old school side-scrolling arcade shooter, featuring an arsenal of 13 types of upgradeable weapons, power-ups, obstacles and boss encounters that arcade veterans will enjoying getting to grips with. Customize your ship by selecting two side weapons which can be cycled and deployed at any time during the action, and a charge attack to unleash massive destruction.

Officially official: Skyrim is officially the fastest-selling title in Steam’s official history. And that’s official. Neither Valve or Bethesda are giving specific sales figures, but Bethesda have claimed that the Skyrim PC outsold any other PC game in North America three to one in its first month. Across all platforms, the dragon-bothering game has now racked up 10m in sales.

Said Valve’s boss of business dev, Jason Holtman, to Industry Gamers: “Skyrim is the fastest selling title in Steam’s history. Bethesda’s commitment to and understanding of the PC as a gaming platform shows in the great review scores, spectacular launch, and continued high player numbers that Skyrim has received.
